Daily Nightly

I've been at work for an hour. I've had a headache all day. Do you think it helps that Lewis keeps whistling?
I stopped sweeping and half leaned on the broom. "Lewis?"
      "What?" he asked.
"Stop whistling. I've got a headache and it's driving me crazy!" I said.
He gave me the look of guilt and a long face. I hate that.
"Stop looking at me like tat. I didn't mean to put you down," I said. "I'm gonna get a drink of water." I left and went down to the break room. I grabbed a cup and went to the water cooler. I got a cupful and chugged it down. Oddly enough, it had a more unusual taste than it usually does. Ah, well. They probably just need to clean out the stupid thing. I left and went back.
      "Better now?" Lewis asked.
"Yes, much," I said, then picked up my broom.
Lewis went back to mopping and had his back to me. I started thinking, Why can't I stop watching him? I mean, I really like him and all, but why am I staring? I started fanning myself and quickly turned away... sort of. I kept an eye on him. I wasn't suspicious of anything, but suddenly, well, let's say I just wanted to tackle him.
He finished mopping and turned my way, causing me to spin around. A few seconds passed and he came up to me.
      "Are you okay?" Lewis asked.
"Well..." I couldn't say anymore. I looked around the room a little, then came back to him. He was still looking at me. "What?"
"You're acting really weird," he commented.
      I didn't reply. Actually, I couldn't/
"I'm gonna go get something to drink," Lewis said, and headed for the breakroom.
I followed. He went in and stopped by the water cooler. He picked up something from off the floor.
"Awe, crap!" he said, after looking at the thing. He turned and saw me in the doorway. "You didn't get water from the cooler, did ya?"
"Uh, yeah, I did," I answered.
He muttered something, and looked at what he was holding again, then looked back at me.
"What is it?" I said, getting impatient.
"See for yourself," Lewis said, then held it out.
I went over and looked at it. "Awe, crap." Ever heard of "Love Potion #9"? Well, the stuff that was in the water I drank is its equivalent. "I better go home..." I left the room.
"Wait..." he said, following me out.

The next morning I woke up with an arm and a leg hanging off the side of the bed. Great, didn't even drink and I've got a hang-over. I'm so glad Kate finally cleared out the spare room for me. This woulda been such a pretty sight on the couch... nah. I rolled over onto my back, then looked at the clock. Actually, my gaze didn't quite reach the clock, it stopped when I saw Lewis's jacket on the chair in the corner. I shot up so fast, I nearly made myself dizzy. I gulped.
There was a knock at the door.
      "Lauren? You awake?"
Kate. What to do? I stayed silent.
A few moments later, I heard her close the apartment door. That was close. I got up. Well, atleast I was still in yesterday's clothes. I went over and picked up the jacket.
      The phone rang.
Naturally, I freaked out and dropped the jacket back on the chair. I went over and picked up the receiver. "Hello?"
"Did I leave my jacket there?"
Lewis. "Yeah, you did," I said.
He let out a breath. "Oh, good. I'm gonna come over and get it."
Before I had a chance to say anything, he hung up. Geez...
I figured I may as well change clothes.
About 10 minutes later, there was a knock at the door. I crossed the room and opened it.
"Hi," Lewis said, then added, "you look like crap."
      I grinned. "Thanks."
"Uh, can I get my jacket?" he asked.
"Sure," I said, then made him follow me. I picked it up. "Care to tell me why it's here?"
"Because I brought ya home and I forgot it," Lewis answered.
"No, I meant, why is it here?" I asked, really stressing the 'here'.
"Cuz ya fell asleep on the way here and I had to carry you in," he answered.
Now, we're getting a little closer. I just glared at him, hoping he'd crack.
Lewis picked up his jacket. "I think you need some more sleep." He left the room, went to the door, stopped, and turned around. "Wait a minute..."
I came back into the room. "Yeah?"
"You don't think that..." he started.
"Do I?" I retorted, crossing my arms.
There was an eerie silence for about a minute.
Lewis started back towards the door.
Suddenly, I got that same feeling from last night after drinking that water. Before I knew it, I darted across the room towards him. Unfortunately, he left and closed the door. I ran into it. Ouch.

Drew is at his desking, "working".
Lewis came over to his cubicle. "Hey, Drew."
"Hey," Drew said, then looked up. "Where's Lauren?"
      "Don't ask," Lewis replied.
"Okay... Did you want something?" Drew asked.
      "No," Lewis said.
"Okay..." Drew said, typed a little bit, and turned back to Lewis. "Are you gonna just sit there and watch me?"
      "Yeah," Lewis answered.
      "What's going on?" Drew asked.
"Well, alright. We were just finishing up at DrugCo and Lauren went to get a drink of water. Fine. One problem, though. Remember that sex drug I thought there was only one bag of?" Lewis said.
      "Yeah..." Drew said.
"Well, apparently, someone still had some of it and thought they'd be funny and put it in the water cooler," Lewis said. "Lauren keeps chasing me around and I'm afraid she'll catch me."
"I never hear what I wanna hear," Drew said. "Okay, you can stay here for now, but I refuse to do any more babysitting after this!"
      "Thanks, Drew," Lewis said.

I was sitting on the couch when Kate came in.
      "Hi, Lauren," she said.
"Hi, Kate. How was your day?" I asked.
"Not bad... but not really good, either," she answered.
"Yeah, that's about my day, too," I agreed.
Kate sat down next to me. "Did you get enough sleep? You look tired."
"Just a little tired. Still getting used to the night shift," I said, covering up.
"Oh," she said. "What're you watching?"
"Clue. I love this movie!" I answered.
"Yeah? I think I've heard of it," Kate said.
"It's only about half done, so the best is still to come," I said.
      "Great," she said.
      The phone rang.
Kate reached over and picked up the receiver. "Hello? Hi, Drew. Yeah. Uh-huh. Really? Yeah, sure. Okay." She turned to me. "Wanna go bowling?"
"Sure, I've got this mov on tape anyway," I said.

I just love sweeping... not! Heh, bowling was interesting to say the least. I don't think Lewis has said one word to me since we left the lanes. I keep trying to start a conversation every once in a while, but he just ignores me. Alright, I gotta do something about this. I went to the doorway of the office he was cleaning.
"Since you're probably still ignoring me, I'm just gonna say this: I'm sorry about what happened at the bowling alley. I didn't know what I was doing..." I said.
Lewis turned to face me. "You snuck into the men's room!"
"Well, okay, maybe I did know, but I couldn't help myself. Isn't there anything I can do or will this just wear off or what?" I said.
"It should wear off," Lewis siad, going back to sweeping.
I just stood there for a moment, then turned to leave. I was about to go when I spun back around, went into the office, and after making a mess, I finally caught him and we started making out.
After about 10 minutes, we needed some air.
"Wow... what was I worried about? Lewis said, then grinned.
"Don't give me that grin, I'm not that crazy," I said, then sat on the desk and looked around. "Whatta mess."
"You think you can contain yourself long enough to help me clean up?" Lewis asked.
      "Maybe," I said.
