And, are we ready to enjoy a day in the snow with the kids?
Mike: Humph. :p
Peter: Aw Mike, we did "Christmas Carol" last year! I'm ready! :D
Micky: You bet! :D
Davy: Ready!
(We open with all of the adults but Daphne sitting around in the living room, sipping coffee and listening to the weather reports on the radio. Mike paces, looking frustrated.)
Emma: Honey, sit down. You're going to wear a hole in the carpet.
Mike: (Turns to Mick) Maybe we ought to call and see about those snowplows...
Micky: *waves it off* The plows'll be out when they're ready.
Mike: When, Doomsday? We're leaving in three days!
Emma: I can't believe you're in a hurry to be on a boat. You get seasick LOOKING at waves.
Mike: It ain't just the cruise. We're behind schedule on the movie. Bob's gonna have our heads if we're late...
*Micky rolls his eyes.* :P
Valerie: Yes, well, Bob is only one of this film's producers. He'll live without you for a few days, and if he doesn't, he can come yelling to me.
Mike: But the movie is supposed to be comin' out in the summer! We're barely half-way through filmin'! We...
Emma: Honey, calm down. You'll give yourself an ulcer.
Peter: It's not so bad, Michael. We haven't had snow the entire time we've lived in California!
Mike: Yeah, but did it have to come NOW? :p
Davy: *mutters* Think 'e's already got the ulcah. :P
(Daphne comes downstairs with Elizabeth in her arms, wrapped in a pink blanket.)
Emma: Hi, Daph. How did feeding go?
Daphne: Went just fine.
Peter: (Grins at the tiny baby) She's getting so big! Look at all her hair! :D
Valerie: Soon, she'll be chasing the other kids around.
Davy: As long as a pahticulah two don't run 'er ragged.
Micky: *grins* Why do you say that?
Lauren: Because you do that to him, Mick.
(Everyone laughs but Mike, who continues to pace. Emma walks over to the window to watch the kids play. Katie and Jordan throw snowballs at Mick and Shelly, or Jordan throws them as well as he can. Jordan is walking much better. He makes it all the way to the fort to throw a snowball on Micky before falling.)
Valerie: (She, Micky, Peter, and Lauren join Emma at the window; Peter and Valerie grin and clap at Jordan's snowball) Good work, sweetie! You go get Mick!
Peter: He's getting so good at walking.
Valerie: He has to. He wants to keep up with the other three.
(Katie lays down in the snow and makes snow angels. Jordan joins her.)
Emma: Aren't they cute? They don't care about cruises or making movies. They're just happy that there's snow on the ground and Santa's coming in a few weeks.
Valerie: Hey, what do the kids want for Christmas?
Emma: Katie's dying for a tricycle, so she can REALLY keep up with Mick and Shelly. Mike bought it two days ago. It's in the garage.
Peter: Jordan wants his own little guitar.
Micky: Too much stuff, that's what they want.
Emma: And how long is YOUR list to Santa, Mr. Dolenz?
Lauren: Longer than both the kids' lists put together.
Micky: Hey! :P
(Emma, Peter, and Valerie double over laughing.)
*Davy snickers. Daphne grins.*
Mike: What's so funny?
Emma: (Snickers and juts a thumb at her husband) You should see HIS Christmas list. It's a mile long.
Mike: It is not. :p
Lauren: That's almost as long as Mick's.
Mike: I heard on the radio that the snow plows should be through soon. Who's gonna go get the kiddies and tell them it's time to clean up? Since we're all here, we need to rehearse for the film and the cruise gig.
Peter: (Looks at Micky with a grin) Wanna go get the kids?
Micky: *nods* Sure.
Peter: Come on, let's go get boots and stuff on!
Micky: Let’s go!
(Which they do. We cut to Micky and Peter, now in boots, coats, and hats, going outside.)
Peter: Ok, kids, it's time to go inside! The snow plows will be through soon, and then we'll go home.
Jordan: (Shakes his head) No! No go! Fun! :D
Katie: Have fun, too! :D
Mick: Awe, do we hafta? :P
Micky: Come on, rugrats. Time to get you cleaned up.
Peter: Don't you want to have hot cocoa and listen to your daddies rehearse?
Jordan: Moosic! :D
Katie: Pway music! :D
Shelly: Yay, music! :D
Peter: Well, we can't play out here! Our instruments and amps would get wet!
Katie: Ok! Let's go!
(Lauren sighs as four kids and two daddies troop into her house. Peter helps Katie and Jordan get their boots off; Micky helps Shelly and Little Mick.)
Valerie: Aunt Emma is making cocoa for the kids and coffee and tea for the grown-ups in the kitchen. We'll get a snack, then watch your dads rehearse, ok? But first (points at a towel spread out next to the door), put your boots there, grown-ups too! Aunt Lauren doesn't want you tracking mud in the house!
Lauren: Yeah, that's why we have the towel and the carpet by the door.
(The moms lead the kids into the kitchen. Cut to the boys in the Rainbow Room, setting up their instruments. Mothers and children walk into the room, carrying cocoa, tea, coffee, and Christmas cookies and cheesecake.)
Valerie: (Sits down on a blanket; Jordan sits in her lap) Lauren, I'm SOOO glad you get half-price food for helping Millie!
Lauren: Me, too. Especially with Mick.
Jordan: Cookies! :D
Katie: Teesecake! :D
Mike: Ok, so, any requests from the house? Anything from our new movie?
Mick: We want Christmas music! :D
Shelly: We want Daddy to sing the Bethlehem song! :D
Katie: Kissmiss! Want Kissmiss!
Jordan: Nice!
Mike: But we gotta rehearse the new movie songs...
Mick: Christmas!!
Valerie: Mike, I don't think it'll hurt to warm-up with a Christmas song. You can work on the movie songs later.
Emma: Honey, they're only kids. Most of the movie songs are a little much for them.
Mike: Fine. Micky, it's all yours.
Micky: Groovy! ;)
Micky: Pete, little piano backing this time?
Peter: Sure! (He sits at the upright piano at one side and begins to play "O Little Town of Bethlehem" as the children settle with their mothers)
*Micky winks to Lauren and grins at the twins before he begins the lyrics.*
(The camera cuts back and forth between the Monkees onstage and the mothers and their kids. Jordan falls asleep right away, before he can even finish half a cookie. Katie takes longer, managing to share some cheesecake with her Mama before she, too, falls asleep.)
*At the end, the twins clap heartily.* :D
Mike: Ok, gang, glad you liked it, but we've gotta...
Davy: *rejoins the group* Hey, mates, the roads are plowed.
Mike: 'Bout time. :p
Emma: (Smiles) In some ways, I'm almost disapointed. This has been rather cozy. The kids had fun.
Mike: A little TOO cozy. We're gonna have enough "togetherness" in a few weeks.
Peter: Oh, I've had a great time!
Micky: Yeah, me, too.
Valerie: We should do this more often.
Mike: Yeah, the next time it snows.
Peter: But it almost never snows here!
Mike: You get the idea.
Valerie: (Picks up Jordan) I'm going to take him home, honey.
Emma: I think I'll put Katie upstairs and stick around for a while. We'll drive Peter home, Val.
Mike: (Nods) Yeah, I don't mind doin' THAT.
Peter: (Shrugs) Ok.
Micky: *smirks* Not much.
Valerie: (Looks at Daphne) Drive you and the little missy home, too? I've got to call Dad and see if Chrissy's ready for the trip, anway. (Sighs) I wish you could come with us, Daph, but I understand why you don't want to.
Mike: And we promise, we'll keep an extra-sharp eye on Davy. If he gets so much as one little star in his eye, we'll make sure he's seein' stars over his HEAD.
Daphne: Okay.
Valerie: Remember, if you need any help, you have the numbers for Matilda, my father, Grace Parker, Barbara Marion, and Micky's mom.
Emma: (Picks up Katie) I'm going to take her upstairs. (Looks at the twins) Shouldn't you two be laying down for your naps, too?
*The twins shake their heads "no."*
Emma: Well, all right... (She heads for the stairs as Valerie gives Peter a kiss and Davy dips Daphne over and gives her a BIG kiss. The latter stumbles out.)
Mike: Ok, guys, let's start with "As We Go Along"...
Peter: I wanna do another Christmas song! More warm-ups!
Mike: Pete, we gotta rehearse...
Peter: Michael, the people on the cruise are gonna want us to play Christmas music too, you know!
Micky: I wouldn't be surprised if most of what they want us to play is Christmas music.
Mike: Well, all right. Just one more...
Peter: Ok! Since it's all nice and snowy outside, how about "Winter Wonderland?"
Emma: Oh, that's my favorite Christmas or winter song!
(And we fade out as Emma, Lauren, and the twins watch the boys launch into an instrumental "Winter Wonderland" with the scenes of the slowly melting snow and glittering icicles on the house in the background.)
