Ok, so...you kids ready to have fun? :) ;)
Katie: Yeah! :D
Jordan: Ok. :)
(Robbie gurgles.)
Emma: We'll keep an eye on them. ;)
Mick: You bet!
Shelly: Sure!
Leah: Wanna have fun!
Lizzie: Me too!
(We open outdoors, in Micky and Lauren's backyard. The older kids chase each other around a well-repaired swingset and tree house.)
Katie: Gonna get'cha, Black Knight!
Mick: Nuh uh! *climbs several steps up toward the treehouse* Nyah nyah!
Shelly: No fair! Come down! I don't like heights!
Katie: I like 'em! (She goes after Micky)
Jordan: (He comes running after them) Come back!
*Mick laughs as he scrambles into the treehouse.*
Leah: *wanders over to Shelly and tugs on her t-shirt* Wanna play!
Shelly: So do i. *toward the treehouse* Micky, get outta there!
Mick: *pokes his head out a "window"* Awwwwwee, alright.
Katie: I'll MAKE him get out! (She scrambles up the steps)
Jordan: Katie, don't get into a fight! Our mommies will get mad!
Emma: Kids? (She goes outside, Robbie yawning sleepily in the crook of one arm) What's all the racket about?
Shelly: Micky went up in the treehouse and Katie's the only one who'll go after him.
Jordan: Katie n' Micky are gonna fight!
Emma: Oh no, they aren’t. George Michael Dolenz the Third and Katherine Martha Nesmith, get down here!
Katie: Uh oh. (Starts down the steps)
Jordan: "Auntie Emma's REALLY mad! She's using full names!"
Mick: *climbs down* But I always play in the treehouse!
Shelly: Daddy's always with you, Micky.
Emma: Micky, we know that. However, your father is not with you, your sisters are. You have to remember, Leah can't climb yet, and Shelly isn't fond of the treehouse.
Katie: We're jus' playin' Knights!
Mick: Yeah!
Emma: You'll have to play on the ground, then, and include your sister and Lizzie.
Katie: Aww, they're too little!
*Leah sticks her tongue out.*
Emma: I can't stand out here all day. I need to feed Robbie. There's lots of things you can do together.
Katie: (Grumbles) Like what?
Jordan: Play a game!
Mick: Tag!
Shelly: No, I'm always it!
Katie: Hide n' seek!
Jordan: I'M always it! I never hide good! :p
Emma: (Robbie begins to cry at this point; his mother sighs) Look, you kids figure it out. I'll be in the kitchen feeding Robbie. Lauren and I are there if you need us, and Micky Sr. is in the garage.
Katie: Sure, Mama!
Jordan: Ok!
(Emma goes back in the house, rocking her wailing son in her arms.)
Katie: (Makes a face) All Robbie ever does is eat, sleep, and yell! He's worse than my Papa!
Jordan: Mommy says he's 'posed to do that, 'cause he's still really little.
Katie: (Turns to Lizzie and Leah) Wanna play Knights?
Leah: How play Knights?
Katie: Well, you have to have sword fights and save people and fight the bad Black Knight and Witch Lady!
Jordan: Only you don't hurt anyone!
Lizzie: Can I s'ord fight?!
Katie: Sure! (Hands Lizzie her wooden sword...but it's kinda big in her hand)
Lizzie: I got, I got! *staggers trying to keep the sword upright, laughing*
Shelly: Too cute.
Micky: *suddenly appears, headed for the shed* Of course she's too cute. She's Davy's daughter.
*Mick laughs. Shelly just grins.*
(Katie and Jordan giggle.)
Micky: What're you rugrats up to? Playing Knights again?
Katie: We're Knights! (Points to Lizzie) Lizzie little knight!
Jordan: I gots arrows! (Holds up his plastic bow and arrow)
Katie: (Points to Micky) He's the bad Black Knight!
Mick: *grins* Yeah!
Micky: Hey, I've got an idea. How would you kids like a bigger Black Knight?
Katie: Who?
Jordan: Where? (Looks around)
Micky: *rolls his eyes, grinning* Me! ;)
Mick: *bounces up and down* Black Knight Daddy!
Katie: Ok! (She raises her hand to wave her sword, but then remembers she gave hers to Lizzie) Uh oh. No sword!
Jordan: I'll help you, Katie!
(Jordan runs in front of Micky and aims his bow and arrow at him as "Saturday's Child" begins.)
(Katie tries to "protect" Lizzie as she struggles with the wooden sword.)
*Micky drops to his knees and "runs" after Shelly and Leah.*
(Jordan shoots a plastic arrow at Micky's back.)
(Katie takes Micky's hint, gets on his knees, and goes after him! After a few minutes, she finally decides she can't catch up to Micky on her knees, so she goes after Little Mick instead.)
*Leah runs into Micky and "tackles" him, knocking him over.*
(Katie tackles Little Mick!)
(Jordan runs around everyone, shooting his arrows at nothing in particular. He finally aims his last arrow at Shelly with a familiar Tork grin.)
*Shelly puts her arms in the arm, giving a little grin.*
(Jordan makes a face and pulls away.)
(Katie takes her sword from Lizzie and goes after Micky. Gonna get'cha, bad Knight!)
(Jordan goes after them, too. Don't jump on Micky! You'll squish Leah!)
(Katie jumps right on Micky!)
*Mick and Shelly pounce on Micky next!*
*Leah jumps on next, followed by Lizzie, who bounces lightly.*
(Jordan runs over to the pile as the song winds down.)
Jordan: Ok?
Katie: (She's holding onto Micky's back) Got the Black Knight!
Micky: *laughing* You got me! I give up! I'll be good!
Katie: Ok! (She lets Micky go)
Emma: (She comes out with Robbie on her arm again and raises an eyebrow) What's going on here?
Katie: We caught the Black Knight!
Emma: So I see. I thought the Black Knight was working on his wife's car.
Micky: *as he gets up* I was. I was headed to the shed to grab something and thought I'd take a quick break and play with the kids.
Emma: Did you include everybody?
Katie: Uh, yeah!
Micky: They all jumped on me equally. (Raises an eyebrow) Why? What were they doing before I came out?
Katie: We wanna play, but Lizzie n' Leah too little!
Emma: I told them to play something they could all play.
Micky: Well, they figured out what to do once I offered to play.
Katie: Yeah! We gots Unca Micky!
Emma: Well, Shelly, Liz, Leah, are you having fun?
Leah: Yeah, lotsa fun!
Shelly: *nods* You should've seen them go after Daddy!
Lizzie: Me wave s'ord!
Emma: (Laughs) Well, just be careful, everyone. Leah and Lizzie ARE still learning.
Katie: We'll show 'em how to be good Knights!
Micky: *chuckles* And I have to get back to working on a car before I REALLY turn into a Black Knight. *waves to the kids and heads for the shed*
Katie: (As everyone waves to Micky) Mama, can Robbie play?
Emma: (Shakes her head; Robbie gurgles) I'm sorry, Sweetie, but your brother is still too little, not to mention it's too cold for him to play outside today. He'll be able to join you soon, though!
Katie: Now!
Emma: Katie, we've been over this. The little kids are different than you! They can't do some of the things you can do yet, just like you can't do some of the things us grown-ups can.
Katie: Awwww!
Emma: (Smiles) Hey, you know, it's past your lunchtime. How would all of you, big and little, like to come inside and have some lunch?
Mick: Lunch!
Shelly: My tummy's rumbling!
Katie: Ok.
Jordan: Let's eat!
Katie: (Looks at the little girls) Come on. We hafta eat.
Emma: Katie, you can go right back out and play when you're done.
Leah: Me hungry!
Lizzie: Go eat!
Katie: (Sighs, sounding very much like her mother when annoyed) Let's go. (They all toddle inside, past Emma, as we fade out)
