Everyone ready for some fun at the nightclub? ;)

Mike: Val shoulda asked me first before she added onto my band.

Peter: Um, I repeat, when do I get some lines?

Micky: I want some more action.

Davy: Be careful wot you ask for, Mick. ;)

(Cut back to the Rainbow Room. Emma grins.)

Emma: Nice, Daphne.

Mike: Yeah. I've always wanted to kill off Babbitt.

Emma: Ok, who goes next?

Davy: I will. (Nods) Everyone 'ad gone to the office and was set up to work. Those going back out to the main room reconverge there.

(We cut back to the nightclub and to black and white. Davy sings "The Day I Fell In Love" while Micky greets guests. Mike plays his guitar, but he's not incredibly happy. Emma, wearing a simple white gown, stands backstage. Sheila, in a different dark gown, sits at the bar sipping drinks.)

Sheila: (Makes a face) I wish Valerie hadn't hired them. Now we have to deal with them and that reporter, too.

Alex: *leans on the counter with a rag near her* Agreed.

Sheila: We're going to have to keep them away from the secret room.

(Peter jumps down from the bandstand as the song comes to an end. Davy goes to a seat and asks for a drink. Mike strikes up the remaining band, and Daphne and the other girls come out to dance to an instrumental "My Share Of The Sidewalk.")

Peter: (Goes to Sheila and Alex) Are we going in the back tomorrow?

Sheila: (Nods) Yes, but we have to be careful. If the detectives or that damn girl reporter figure out what we're doing...

Peter: But we're doing something good!

Sheila: Not everyone thinks so.

Alex: And I'm sure they won't.

Peter: I don't know how long I can keep fooling Michael, either. I know he's suspicious, especially since I've missed rehearsals. I think Val is, too.

Sheila: We'll take care of Mr. Nesmith. Don't you worry, Peter.

Peter: You won't hurt anybody, will you? After Babbitt died last night...

Sheila: No one else will get hurt, Peter.

Peter: Please! I don't know who killed Babbitt, but I'm afraid they may come after us next!

Sheila: We'll be find, as long as no one else finds out what we're doing. You can't let those detectives figure everything out. Understand?

Peter: (Nods) Yes! I don't want to end up dead, too! (Frowns as Mike makes a face and gestures to Peter) Um, I think the chorus girls' number is done. They need me back. I'll see you tonight! (He hops off the stool and heads back to the bandstand)

Sheila: (Rolls her eyes) What a little idiot.

Alex: I told you I didn't like using him.

Sheila: We need his street connections and the connection he has in the band. He'll head them off our tail.

Alex: *grumbles so Sheila doesn't hear* More like he's leading them to us.

Sheila: (Looks wistfully at Mike) I do wish Mr. Nesmith hadn't broken it off with us. He was a rather useful man. He worked well for my uncle in the early 30s.

(Emma goes to Micky as Davy drools over the girls in the act, especially eyeing Daphne.)

Emma: Seen anything yet?

Micky: *shakes his head* Nothing. Well, other than Sheila and Alex having a nice long chat at the bar.

Emma: Maybe one of us ought to see what they're talking about? (Makes a face) I'll be singing in a minute, or I'd do it. What about you?

Micky: Gonna be stuck out here for a while still. How about Davy?

Emma: He'll work. At the very least, he could charm the heck out of Sheila.

Micky: As long as none of us have to watch that.

Emma: Where is he, anyway?

Micky: He's at one of the tables with Daphne making goo goo eyes at each other.

Emma: Isn't she one of the chorus girls?

Micky: Yeah.

Emma: I'll go tell Davy what's going on. (She goes over to Davy and Daphne's table) Mr. Jones?

Davy: *looks up* Yes?

Emma: I have to get onstage and Mr. Dolenz is busy, but we're going to need someone to keep an eye on Miss Saunders and Mr. London (points to Sheila and Alex) and you're not on for a while.

Davy: Sure! 'Ow would you like to 'elp me out, luv? *grins at Daphne*

Daphne: I'd love to!

Emma: Great! Report back to me after my next few numbers. My story is due soon, and I need this scoop! (She heads for the stage)

Mike: (Announcing) And here's our newest songbird! The lovely Miss Emma Redmer will sing "You May Just Be The One."

Emma: Michael, it's "You Just May Be The One."

Mike: I know that! I wrote the damn song!

Emma: Michael, watch your language!

John: Could we begin tonight, please? These people didn't come here for your Hepburn and Grant routine.

(Emma begins "You Just May Be The One" as Davy and Daphne head over to the crowded bar...but Sheila's gone. Daphne points to a red head bobbing over the crowd near the stage. She pulls Davy over to it...but it turns out to be a plumpish red-haired girl on her none-too happy boyfriend's arm.)

*Davy shakes his head and drags Daphne off in another direction.*

(Daphne drags Davy over to another red head...but they run right into a very big man with very red hair. Davy tries to back away, but the man isn't happy. Daphne puts her hands over her eyes; when she peeks, Davy walks over to her, licking the whipped cream pie off his face.)

(Davy whistles when two red-headed ladies in sexy gowns stroll by. Daphne elbows him.)

(Daphne grabs Davy again. She saw a redhead at the bar! She pulls Davy through the crowd and tugs on Alex's sleeve. Seen any redheads?)

*Alex shakes his head, then turns away, rolling his eyes.*

(Daphne frowns. Alex looks familiar...)

(Daphne points to the dance floor. Wanna dance and look for Sheila at the same time?)

*Davy nods his agreement.*

(The two head out to the dance floor and wow the crowd with their ballroom dance moves, which ends when the song does as Davy dips Daphne low...and kisses her.)

Davy: (As we hear applause) You...you...you're so beautiful...

Daphne: *blushes* Thank you.

Davy: Would you like to go back to the bar? I'm not on for another couple of numbers. I could buy you a drink, and we could scan the crowd for Sheila again.

Daphne: I'd love to!

(Emma begins "I'd Spend My Life With You" as Davy leads Daphne to the bar.)

Davy: You know, you're a really sweet girl, Daphne. What are you doin' tomorrow mornin'?

Daphne: I didn't have anything planned.

Davy: I'm sure Mick n' I won't be openin' the office until later in the day. Maybe we could go out to breakfast?

Daphne: Sure!

Davy: In that case, a date calls for a celebration. (Calls to Alex) Hey Alex, how about the best in the house for me and my new friend here?

Alex: You got it. *grabs two glasses from under the bar and fills them with a dark liquid, then sets the drinks on the bar as the duo walk over*

Davy: Thanks, Alex. (Turns to Daphne and raises his glass) A toast to us, my dear?

Daphne: *raises her glass* A toast!

Davy: (Clinks glasses with her, then drinks deeply and turns to Alex with a grin) Hey, that was good stuff! What was it?

Alex: You asked for the best in the house. It's actually my own little concoction, a combination of Cabernet, Chardonney, and seltzer water.

Davy: It's quite good. (He stumbles a bit as he gets off the bar; his eyes glaze over) Yes, it's very good.

Davy: (Turns to Daphne) Wanna dance again, luv? (He stumbles into her arms)

Daphne: Let’s dance!

(Davy leads Daphne to the dance floor, in a deliberately less-than-coordinated dance routine. Davy's wobbly and blurry-eyed, and much of what we see during the number is seen through Davy's hazy view. He even steps on Daphne's toes once or twice! The crowd thinks it's part of the show and eats it up. Daphne finally leads Davy into the back alley as the song ends. Emma starts "Of You" as she sets Davy down on a crate.)

Davy: (Holds his head) Oh man, I only had one drink! What happened in there?

Daphne: I don't know.

(Shadows fall on Davy and Daphne as we hear a door open...but don't see it. The same group of guys who started the bar brawl surround Davy and Daphne.)

Man 1: Boss told you not to snoop around here, Shrimp.

Man 2: Did't we teach you two a lesson the other night?

Man 3: But he didn't have such a cute chick with him then!

Davy: Get away, you guys! We're not doing anything!

Daphne: Watch it, bub.

Man 2: Then why were you botherin' Miss Saunders?

Davy: I wasn't bothering her! We just wanted to talk to her. We didn't do anything to her.

Sheila: (Smirks as she joins them) Well, well. Hello, Mr. Jones. Feeling a little under the weather?

Davy: Wot are you doing out 'ere?

Sheila: Just came to see how you were doing, Mr. Jones. I saw that lovely little routine you and your girlfriend did during the last romp. Very cute. Did you direct the dances yourself?

Davy: Yes, but they're usually bettah than that one.

Sheila: You really need to accept your bonuses and be done with it. (Nods at Davy) Boys, have fun. Don't damage TOO much. We'll need both of them for the next number. (She walks out, and the goons surround them. Davy tries to kick one in the rear, but he misses and ends up on the ground instead.)

*The men gather around as the door opens again and Micky sticks his head out.*

Micky: What's going on out here?

Davy: (Wobbles) Um, Mick, little help here.

Micky: *eyes widen* Davy!

*Micky jumps into the fray. Cartoon dust raises over the whole group.*

(When it comes up, both guys are on the ground, with Daphne standing over them, shaking her head. The men have retreated.)

Davy: Boy, we sure gave them the old once-over, didn't we?

Micky: We sure did.

*Both guys are revealed to have matching shiners forming.*

Davy: (Wobbles into Daphne's arms) Um...maybe we could ask Mike and John to take me other numbers?

Daphne: *nods* I think that might be a good idea.

Davy: Because...you might be holding me up for the rest of the night. (Davy wobbles right into Daphne's arms)
