Ok, while you're eating, everyone ready to be a kid? ;)

Micky: You bet! ;)

Lauren: I'm ready!

Mike: Ain't too sure.

Peter: I think it's fun! I'm ready! :D

Davy: Me too, mate.

(The bullies surround Daphne, Davy, and Micky. Peter pulls back behind the swing set, clutching his lunch box in fear. Mike pulls the girl in yellow and Peter out of the way.)

Bully 1: You want this ribbon, shrimps? (Dangles it) Come and get it!

Micky: Yeah, we do! X-(

Davy: (Growls) Shrimps? X(

Daphne: Stop talking about yourselves! ;)

Bully 2: Oooh, an insult from a GIRL! ;)

Micky: Darn better than you could come up with! :P ;)

Mike: Now, wait a minute here...

Bully 3: Oh, now it's shrimps and sticks! ;)

Mike: (Narrows his eyes) Now, see here... X(

Bully 4: Why are you so interested in this, anyway? It's just some little girl's bow.

Micky: Because it don't belong to you, jerks! :P

Bully 3: (Sneers) Little girl! Walking bag of lacy stuff!

Girl: Hey! That's not nice! :(

Peter: Leave her alone! :(

Lauren: What did she ever do to you? :P

Mike: (Pushes Peter and the girl behind him) Now, why don't you boys just leave these guys alone?

Bully 1: Make us, stick!

Mike: Why don't we? ;)

Davy: Come on, mates! (He jumps on one boy as "Saturday's Child" begins. Daphne "shoots" another. It's only a play laser gun, but the boy bends over like he was really shot. Daphne grabs the ribbon and tosses it to Micky, Davy being occupied.)

*Micky runs to a tree and climbs up in it. He sits on one of the branches, crowing happily.* :D ;)

(Davy joins Micky in the tree. The two boys hide playfully from the two bullies looking for them on the ground. ;) )

(The bullies push Peter and the girl in the center of a large, green-painted jungle gym that looks rather like a prison. The girl looks scared; Peter cries. :o :(( )

*Lauren, already sitting at the top of the same jungle gym, pulls out a notebook. She folds a sheet of paper and produces a paper airplane. She lets one fly and hits one of the bullies in the back. She repeats the process and hits another in the leg.* ;)

(Micky throws the ribbon to Mike as the bullies try to climb the tree. No one notices another girl sit by the swings with a book. She wears a red, white, and blue sailor-like dress, saddle shoes, and a red hairband in her short, thick brown curls.)

(Mike, being thinner, is also faster and gets to the top first. He, Micky, and Davy grab sticks from the tree to defend themselves. The bullies knock their sticks out of their hands with big, nasty grins. >:) :o )

(That's when we hear laser fire...and the sound of wailing sirens. The bullies flee in terror. The boys turn to see Daphne making siren noises and grinning. :D )

(Peter, looking around, finds a way under the bars to get out and help the girl out. They're both a little dirty when they're done. She throws her arm around Peter, who turns as red as an apple. :D :">)

(Mike sees Lauren making paper airplanes. He asks Lauren for some paper and makes a few of his own. The boys and Daphne join him. Soon, the bullies are being pelted by paper airplanes, copters, blimps, and even boats! ;) )

(One of the paper "planes" shoots a wadded-up paper ball at one bully, who passes out. ;) :p)

(The sound of a ringing bell ends "Saturday's Child." Mike hands the girl her ribbon as the bullies run off.)

Mike: Here you go, miss.

Girl: Thank you! It was so nice of all of you to get this back! It's my favorite! :D

Peter: (Still blushing) Aw, it was nothing! :">

Micky: *grins at Peter* What a nice shade of red. ;)

Girl: My name is Valerie Cartwright. (Sighs) Are all boys that mean?

Mike: Some are, some aren't.

Peter: I'm not!

Davy: They were just bein' jerks, luv.

Lauren: Stupid jerks. :P

Valerie: That's not fair. (Fidgets) I wish I were at my old school. It was all-girls. I miss it. :p

Peter: ALL girls? :o

Valerie: (Nods) It was a private girl's academy. My daddy moved me here after...(quitely) after my mommy died. :(

Peter: You don't have a mommy? :(

(Valerie shakes her head. :( )

Daphne: That's too bad. I know I'd miss my mommy if something happened to her. :(

Lauren: *nods* Me too. :(

Davy: (Nods) Me too. I love me mum a lot. :(

Micky: I would, too. That's awful. :(

Peter: Would you like play with us, then eat lunch with us? :D

Valerie: (Smiles as she ties her ribbon around her hair) Sure!

Daphne: We'll be nice and not take your stuff. I don't think they like us too much, either. All the boys don't let me play the good stuff 'cause I'm a girl, and all the girls are boring. :p

Mike: Kinda new here myself.

Peter: (Nods) Me too.

Lauren: I'm new, too.

Micky: *shrugs* I've been here all my life. Doesn't make things much better. :P

Valerie: (Grins) I've seen you. You're funny! Everyone always laughs when they're around you! :D

Micky: Thank you. *slight frown* But that's all everyone thinks I'm good for. :P

Valerie: (Shakes her head) Oh, no, you were very brave! You helped get my ribbon back! You all did! (Nods at the fence where the girl in the sailor-like dress sits) My lunch box is over with the others' by the fence. Why don't we have lunch, then play a game? Maybe we could play "Lone Ranger" or "Superman." :)

Mike: That's baby stuff.

Peter: I like "Lone Ranger!" :D

Micky: *grins* I like "Superman!" :D

Mike: Why don't we eat first, then decide?

Peter: (Nods) I don't want to fight. You guys are the only kids here who have been nice to me!

Daphne: Sounds good! I could use lunch!

Valerie: I can't wait to see what Sophie packed for me today! :)

Peter: (As they walk back to the fence) Sophie?

Valerie: She's Daddy's housekeeper and cook. She makes the best watercress sandwiches! :D

Micky: Cool! :D

(Mike walks a bit behind as the others go over to the lunch boxes by the fence. The girl in the sailor-style dress continues to read, ignoring them. She picks up her own lunch box, which has Donald and Daisy Duck on it, as the others sit by the fence.)

Peter: (Opens his lunch box and pulls out a container of milk, a sandwich, an oatmeal cookie, and an apple) Ooooh, goodie, Mommy remembered to pack oatmeal! That's my favorite cookie. :D

Daphne: (Makes a face at her sandwich) Aww, I just have ham. I was hoping for PB&J! :p

Lauren: *opens her lunch box, which has Bugs Bunny on it* I've got cheese and crackers. :D

(Mike sits down on the end, near the girl with the book, crosses his arms, and tries to ignore the others, as he has no lunch box and no lunch.)

Micky: *his lunch box has Superman on it* Oooh! Peanut butter and Fluff! :D

Davy: (Pulls out a paper bag and looks at its contents) Peanut buttah n' honey and a peach and two of the chocolate chip cookies Mum baked yestahday. (Grins) I was 'opin' me sistahs 'adn't eaten them all when they came out of the oven! ;) :D

Valerie: (As she reaches for a lunch box with flowers on it) You have sisters? Are they little or big?

Davy: (Makes a face) I 'ave three sistahs. I'm the only boy. They're all oldah than me. :p

Peter: I have brothers and sisters. I guess I'm lucky. :)

Micky: I have three sisters, all younger.

Lauren: I have an older brother. :)

Valerie: I have a little sister who's just a baby, and I get to help her nanny take care of her! :D

Peter: (As they eat their sandwiches) What about you, Mike?

Mike: Ain't got brothers or sisters.

Valerie: (Pulls out a watercress sandwich, milk in a Thermos, two brownies, a pear, and some crackers) Aren't you going to eat, Mike?

Mike: I ain't hungry.

Peter: Where's your lunch box?

Mike: Don't got none.

Peter: Did you forget your lunch?

Mike: No.

Voice: You can have some of mine. (The voice comes from the girl in the sailor outfit, who offers half of a sandwich on brownish bread) It's turkey and swiss cheese with lettuce on rye bread. My mom says that's better for you than white bread. Mom reads a lot about health and stuff.

Mike: Don't want stuff from no one.

Girl: I was just being nice! You look so thin and sad! :p :(

Peter: (Quietly) Mike, why don't you have a lunch? Did some one take it?

Mike: Well...I...

Daphne: You can tell us! We won't make fun of you!

Micky: Yeah, we're friends! :)

Mike: (Takes the sandwich; quietly) I ain't got a lunch. Mom n' I don't got a lot of food or nuthin'.

Girl: What about your dad?

Mike: (Very quiet) Ain't got a dad. :(

Peter: Oh, Mike, that's why you wouldn't talk about your dad before! :(

Mike: He walked out on my mom and me when I was really little. I don't remember much, other than he weren't too nice to us. We ain't got no money. All the kids in school in Texas used'ta make fun of me 'cause we were poor and we lived in a bad part of town. (Tugs at his shirt) This used'ta belong to my cousin Jake. And these (indicates the overalls) belonged to my cousin Freddie. All my clothes used'ta be my older cousins’, and they're all too big or small. I work after school weedin' yards and mowin' lawns and deliverin' papers to help Mom make money.

Daphne: Well, you can share our lunches! (Hands Mike half of her sandwich)

Mike: Guys...

Girl: If you're hungry, you're hungry. Mom always says I should eat less, anyway. (Presses the sandwich into his hand)

Mike: But I...

Micky: No buts!

Peter: (Breaks his oatmeal cookie in half) My mom makes the best, and they should be shared! :) (Hands the other half to Mike)

Lauren: Cracker? *holds out the plastic bag full of crackers* :)

Valerie: (Pours juice out of the thermous) Here. I hope you like apple. I have plenty! :)

Mike: (Takes the cracker from Lauren) Thanks.

Lauren: You're welcome, Mike. :)

Micky: Ooohh! How about some chocolate chips, Mike? *pulls out a plastic bag of plain chocolate chips* :) ;)

Mike: Ok. (Takes some chocolate chips, eating everything hungrily) Thanks! (Looks at the girl in the sailor dress) Hey, what's your name?

Girl: I'm Emma.

Mike: Thanks, Emma, this is really good! (Looks at the others) Thanks, everybody! :D

Peter: Whoa, Mike, slow down! You'll get a tummy ache if you keep eating like that! :o

Micky: I've eaten faster than that and felt fine. ;)

Valerie: Emma, how come you were sitting alone?

Emma: (Shyly) I don't know anyone here. I'm kinda slow and fat, and nobody really seems to like me, so I just stay away from them. :p :(

Peter: But you're really nice! You shared your sandwich with Mike! :)

Emma: (Shrugs) He looked like he needed it. Mom's always saying I'm too big and I sit around too much. (Makes a face) I'd play more games, but I'm not fast enough to play with the other kids, and I'm not a good athlete. :p

Daphne: So? You should still be able to play.

Peter: I like baseball! :D

Davy: I like to ride 'orses! I'm gonna be a jockey someday! :D

Lauren: I like baseball, too, and badminton!

Micky: Baseball is fun! :D

Emma: I'm not very good at baseball. I can't hit hard or run fast, and I'm TERRIBLE at catching! :p

Daphne: Why don't we play baseball after we eat? We could probably get some equipment from one of the teachers! :)

Lauren: Yeah, and we can help Emma get better at it! :)

Mike: (As he finishes his sandwich and gulps the apple juice) I'm not very good at it, either. None of the kids in Texas ever wanted me to play with them. No one wanted to play with (hisses softly) the poor white trash Cracker. :p X(

Emma: You're not that! :p

Peter: Mike, you're so nice! You helped Valerie and me when the bullies were here!

Daphne: Well, you can play with us, too! :)

Valerie: I can't play in this dress. Mary Jean would get mad! She cleans our clothes! (Grins) But I can be a cheerleader! :D

Davy: I'm all right at baseball. I've played it before. Shame you don't play cricket 'ere in America, or much football - what you call soccer. Now THOSE are fun. ;) :D

Micky: Soccer is fun! I like bouncing the ball off my head! ;)

Davy: You would. ;)

*Micky sticks his tongue out at Davy.* :P ;)

Daphne: We can play soccer tomorrow. I want to play baseball today! My brothers and I play in our backyard all the time. :)

Peter: Baseball is one of the only sports I really like.

Davy: Well, mates, what are we waitin' for? ;)

Mike: (Finishes the crackers) I'm done.

Valerie: (Tucks her food in her lunch box) Me, too.

Lauren: I'm ready!

Micky: Me, too.

("Smile" begins as the group puts their lunch boxes aside and runs over to a small circle of dirt with a bench and pie-tin bases. Daphne comes over with bats, gloves, and balls, and the group splits into two. Micky, Lauren, and Davy go in the outfield. Mike, Peter, Daphne, and Emma are up to bat. Valerie sits on the bench.)

*Micky goes to the pitcher's mound and tosses the ball in one hand, making faces towards home plate where Mike is up to bat first. Mike motions for Micky to throw the ball, which he does, sailing into Daphne's catcher's mitt.* ;)

(Mike grumps and motions for Micky to try again. This time, he hits a clear line drive over Davy and Lauren's heads and eventually ends up on second base. ;) )

*Micky shakes a fist at Mike, then catches the ball from Lauren. Peter comes up to bat next. Micky does the same thing, again, making a face towards home plate. He throws the ball...*

(Peter misses. He finally hits the third time. He makes it to first, but he's able to send Mike home.)

*Micky kicks at the dirt of the pitcher's mound. Davy tosses the ball back to him as Emma comes up to bat. This time, Micky doesn't make a face, but instead gives Emma a smile. He throws a nice easy pitch...*

(Emma hits it. It goes straight down. She makes it to first...but Peter's out at second. He kicks at the ground and looks like he's going to cry, but Valerie runs to him and hugs him, which makes him smile again.)

*Micky turns to Emma and claps, grinning. Lauren cheers for her, too.* :D

(Emma smiles and blushes at the others. Even Mike gives her a faint crooked grin.)

(Daphne hands Peter the catcher's mitt and grabs a bat. She waves to Mick, a "bring it on!" look on her face. ;) ))

*Micky grins, once again tossing the ball in one hand. He pulls back and starts his wind up. He throws and the ball goes sailing over homeplate for strike one. Daphne looks back at Peter, who's digging the ball out of his mitt, disbelievingly. She watches Peter throw the ball back to Micky.*

*Micky winds up again, this time throwing the ball low. Daphne tries to reach for it, but still swings too high and misses again. Peter throws the ball back to Micky for the second time. Daphne huffs and tightens the grip on her bat. Micky, tossing the ball one handed again, waggles his eyebrows. He throws the third pitch. Daphne swings and misses for strike three.*

(Daphne bangs the bat on the ground and hands it to Mike, grumbling. He hits the ball but hits it low. Emma makes it home, but he's out, which effectively ends the inning and puts the other three up to bat. Daphne takes the pitcher's mitt.)

*Micky picks up the bat but offers it to Lauren with a smile. She accepts it, blushing slightly. She steps up to the plate and looks toward the pitcher's mound.*

(Daphne smiles at Lauren and throws a good, solid ball. Lauren hits it and makes it to second base. :) )

*Micky claps, cheering for Lauren as he steps up next. He gives an overly friendly wave to Daphne, who just glares back at him. He makes a face, then prepares for the pitch.*

(Daphne winds up, then throws her best curve ball. ;) )

*Micky swings and spins himself around completely, missing the pitch.* :P ;)

(Daphne grins as the others laugh. She throws a fast ball next. ;) )

*Again, Micky swings and misses, but doesn't spin around. He just stumbles forward a bit. He straightens, plants his fists on his hips, and huffs. He goes back into a batter's stance and readies himself for the next pitch.* :P

(Daphne winds up, spits on the ball - despite Emma's disgust at this - and thows it! :D ;) )

*Micky swings. He doesn't spin around, nor does he fall forward, but he doesn't know if he hit it or not. He turns to Davy to see if he's got the ball in the catcher's mitt. Davy grins and opens the mitt, revealing the ball. Micky makes a face and stomps over to Davy. They exchange bat, ball, and glove, Micky taking up the catcher's role. He wipes off the ball and throws it back to Daphne.* :P

(Daphne grins wickedly as she throws the ball at her newest victim. ;) >:) )

*Davy swings and connects with the first pitch. It sails over Mike's head, allowing Lauren to make it all the way home!* :D

(Daphne looks up...and up...in total shock. :o )

(Mike goes running after the ball, followed by Peter. He finally throws the ball to Emma, who isn't fast enough to catch Davy before he slides into second. Emma makes a face and stomps her foot. :p)

(Daphne grumbles and returns to Lauren, throwing her a solid ball.)

*Lauren hits a little dribbler to Peter, who gets her out at first base. She shrugs and heads back behind home plate.*

(Daphne grins as Micky comes up again. She throws another fast ball to him, grinning wickedly. ;) )

*Micky connects solidly with the ball, but hits it straight to Emma, who catches it and is surprised and happy she did!*

(Emma jumps up and down, grinning happily as the bell rings again and kids start to line up. The teacher - or her legs - appears again.)

Teacher: Ok, students, everyone line up! We're going back inside!

Emma: Aw, I was just having fun!

Peter: (As they round up the equipment and pick their lunch boxes up by the fence) Wow, that was fun!

Valerie: You guys are so funny to watch! You all make great faces! ;) :))

Micky: Funny? I was concentrating my brains out on the mound. :P ;)

Lauren: That was a great catch, Emma! :D

Emma: (Blushes, but she's smiling) Thanks. I usually drop it. :) :">

Mike: Yeah, not bad.

Davy: This was great! I 'aven't 'ad so much fun since me family left England!

Valerie: I wish we could be together all the time!

Emma: Me too. I don't feel slow or wrong when I'm with you guys!

Mike: And you're all so nice to me.

Micky: *slings an arm around Lauren's shoulders* Yeah, that'd be great! :D

*Lauren blushes.* :) :">

Peter: And you don't call me a dummy!

Valerie: Who calls you a dummy?

Peter: (Looks down sadly) Everyone. I'm just...I'm good at music, and at baseball, but not much else. My grades aren't all that great, except for music, and my dad's really mad. :(

Valerie: (She puts her arms around Peter) We can help you with your grades!

Daphne: We can help each other!

Micky: Yeah, we'll take what we're good at and share with everyone else. :D

Emma: I can help with reading! I love to read!

Peter: I can help with music. :)

Valerie: I know about math, and clothes, and how to take care of a baby. :)

Daphne: We all know lotsa stuff! We're just like a little family. :)

Micky: Or a not-so little family. ;)

Emma: Come on, guys! Let's get back, before the teacher notices we're not in line! (They all join the line as the screen gets wavy again and we rejoin the group in Micky and Lauren's backyard in 1972.)

Mike: (Sighs) Yeah, man. I wish I really had known you guys when I was a kid.

Emma: Might have made certain parts of my childhood a little easier to have that kind of support.

Lauren: Would've been a lot more fun, that's for sure. :)

Peter: The kids are lucky. They'll always have someone like to turn to like that. :)

(Micky chases Shelly and Katie out of their hiding places. They run to their mothers, giggling, as Micky follows them.)

Katie: Hi! (Tugs on her father's leg) Papa! :D

Mike: Hi, cowgirl. Havin' fun? ;)

Katie: Lotsa fun! :D

Little Mick: I found them! *grins widely* :D

Shelly: *sticks her tongue out* You cheated. :P ;)

Peter: (Ruffles Micky's hair) You guys sure looked like you were enjoying yourselves. :)

Valerie: (Cuddles her son) Someday, Jordan will be out there, chasing you around. :)

(Jordan gurgles, almost smiling. :) )

Mike: Then you won't be the only boy, Mick.

Davy: Yeah, mate, they won't outnumbah you. ;)

Mick: *raises his arms* Yay! :D ;)

Emma: Ok, folks, I'm ready! (Comes out with a huge sheet cake...and "Congradulations, Davy and Daphne" written in pink icing across the top) I had to add something to celebrate our new addition! :D

Davy: 'Ey, Em, that's nice. :)

Daphne: Thank you. :)

Emma: Of course. You're family...and your child will be family, too.

Katie: Ooh, cake! :D

Little Mick: I love cake! :D

Emma: And family sticks together. :)

Micky: Especially when said family has such good looking cake! ;)

Lauren: *rolls her eyes* Oh, Mick... ;)

(Everyone laughs as Emma passes around cake and the screen fades out on the kids and their parents. :) )
