Angelettes, The: Black all-girl soul group who first appeared in "I Think I’m a Clone Now." Winnie, Audrey, and Lillian fled their native Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the California sunshine and more opportunity than the south provided.
Mr. Babbitt
Babbitt, Henry: The Monkees’ grouchy and greedy landlord was the only ongoing character on the original "Monkees" besides the boys and was carried over to the "Dream World" series as well, first appearing during the wedding party finale of "Head Trip." He’s very fond of snooping around the neighborhood, listening for gossip. Mike and Emma purchased the beach house from him in "Pirates of Malibu Beach."
Jack
Barlow, Jack: Jack first appeared in "Monkees In Wonderland." Based on the character of the same name from the movie "Big Wednesday," he's a good buddy of Nyles & works at the same radio station Micky does. He's also the subject of Coco's affections, whether he likes it or not. He's also an excellent surfer and more on the quiet side. He's quite intelligent & hopes to break into the recording industry someday himself.
Mr. Bennett
Bennett, John: Kindly Mr. Bennett is one of several characters from the original "Monkees" episode "Monkee Mayor" carried over to the "Dream World" series. He first appeared at the costume party held for Micky’s sisters in "Monkee Masqurade." He was a small-time songwriter and radio performer during the 30s and now teaches music to young children. He has first-hand knowledge of many Oriental religious and defence methods, having served in the Pacific during World War II and spent time in Japan after the war. Peter, who is also interested in Oriental religions and traditions, is particuarlly close to Mr. Bennett and works for him as a teaching assistant. Mr. Bennett was close to his wife Louise, but she passed on and their four children do not live in the area. Sadly, we find in the start of "The Malibu Beach Amateur Hour" that Mr. Bennett has died of heart complications.
Big Jake: "Big" Jake the dog isn't very big (he was named for a 1971 John Wayne movie), and he isn't very pretty, but he's now a beloved member of the Nesmith family. The friendly mutt used to be a stray who hung around Malibu Beach, but he inadvertantly aided the Monkees in returning to their families in "The Incredible Shrinking Monkees" and made friends with Katie and the other kids in the process. Mike saw how attached his daughter was to the pooch and didn't have the heart to get rid of him, so he and Emma adopted him. Mike hopes Jake will grow up to be an attack dog, but Jake's only real interest now is playing with anything and anyone he can get his paws on. Micky's still a bit wary of him after a few incidents in "Shrinking Monkees."
Broderick: Agent Broderick is Inspector Honeywell's right-hand man. He's young, eager to please, and even more incompetent at his job than his boss was. We first encounter him in "Nine Times Two" when his boss requests the Monkees' help in trapping a foreign spy.
Nyles
Brown, Nyles: The perpetually stoned surfer buddy of Micky's. He's loyal and good-hearted but not exactly bright, though he's helped out on several occasions. He made his first "Dream World" appearance during the surfing contest in "Beach Blanket Monkees." As of "It's a Very Small Monkee World," he's graduated from college and works with Jack, Lauren, and Micky at KMBR.
Cartwright, Christina ("Chrissy"): Valerie Cartwright’s little sister. A strong-willed and athletic girl who adores her older sibling. Chrissy’s mother died shortly after her birth and Valerie practically raised her. She first appeared in "Just Like All of Your Toys" after being mentioned several times. She’s aware of the "Imagination Power" her sister and brother-in-law posses but doesn't full understand all of it's uses or ramifications yet.
Desmond: The crotchety weapons and explosions expert for the CIS who has created gadgets for the group's adventures on occasion, we first encounter him introducing equipment during "Big Apple Monkees."
Dolenz, Billy: The newest member of the Dolenz family, born directly after "Adventures in Coconut Island". Micky claims he's a bit less energetic than his siblings, but he seems to have Daddy's lung power...
Dolenz, Gemma ("Coco"), Debbie, and Gina: Micky's rambunctious sisters, daughters of Janelle.
Dolenz, George Michael ("Micky") III and Michelle Leigh ("Shelly"): Otherwise known as "the twins," these energy-filled kiddies entered the world during one of Malibu Beach's worst storms to date in "Ooh Baby Baby." They take after their dad all the way, especially Little Mick. The two are now in school, though Mick isn't doing as well as Shelly.
Dolenz, Leah: This sweet miss was born in April 1973; her mother went into labor with her during "The Incredible Shrinking Monkees". She's as small as her mommy...but definitely has that bubbly Dolenz personality!
Mrs. Filcheck
Filcheck, Alice: Like Mr. Bennett, Mrs. Filcheck is a one-shot neighbor character carried over from the original "Monkees" episode "Monkee Mayor." She and Marge Purdy are among the many sweet little old ladies who live on Beachwood Street. She was first seen in "Dream World" in "Beach Blanket Monkees."
Four Martians
Four Martians, The: One of several former neighborhood bands now under contract to Headquarters Records. The quartet came from the "Monkees" episode "The Audition (Find the Monkees)." They made their first appearances in the "Dream World" series when they joined Nyles, Micky, and Davy for a surfing contest in "Beach Blanket Monkees." John is the group leader and a close friend of Mike Nesmith’s; Marcus is jumpy and exciteable; Chris is absolutely girl-crazy and dated Amber for a time; Danny is laid-back. They drive a 50s-era Buick with space-age trim and the appropriate nickname of "The Flying Saucer." As of "The Party," Marcus is engaged to paranoid neighbor Tilly.
Honeywell
Honeywell: Inspector Honeywell of the CIS was carried over from the "Monkees" episode "The Spy Who Came In From the Cool," where he was an incompetant agent. When we first encounter him in the "Dream World" series in "Nine Times Two," he's risen in the ranks to semi-incompetent commander-in-chief for one of America's largest spy organizations. He occasionally badgers the Monkees into helping him with a case, though they (especially Mike) don't think too highly of him or the CIS in general.
Jessie: Nyles' steady girlfriend was first introduced in "The Play Is the Thing." The two have been joined-at-the-hip-and-lip ever since. Jessie is more-or-less a female version of her boyfriend - pretty, funny, surf-crazy, and none-too-bright.
Jolly Green
Giants
Jolly Green Giants, The: They are also from "The Audition." As with their buddies The Four Martians, musicians Joe, Cory, and Bobby and one of several former neighborhood bands now contracted to Valerie's Headquarters Records. They are tall, strong, and very good in a fight. They also made their first "Dream World" appearances in "Devil and Michael Nesmith."
Jones, Elizabeth: Davy and Daphne's daughter was born in November '72 (between "Night of the Living Monkees" and "Of Turkeys and Monkees"). Like her father, she's horse-crazy. Leah Dolenz is her best friend.
Marion, Barbara: Mrs. Marion is another sweet old woman who lives down the street from the Pad, introduced in "The Witch Down the Street" as a new mentor for the Monkees after the death of Mr. Bennett. She originally lived on the east coast with her husband, whom she met when she nursed him during World War II, but she moved back to his family home when he died. Unfortunantly, the house is falling apart, and she lacks the money for its upkeep. Many people in the neighborhood mistake her for a witch (including, initially, the Monkees and their families), but she's really just a lonely old woman who needs company and help with her house. She's an excellent cook and baker whose hobbies include making folk medicine from her own herbs and praticing with a staff her husband taught her to use while he was stationed in Japan.
Larry & Millie
McNulty, Larry: Gentle, soft-spoken moving man who married Millie Rudnick in the original "Monkees" episode "Monkee Mother." He helps his wife out in her bakery when he can take the time off from his still-prosperous delivery business. He and Millie first appeared in the "Dream World" series in the finale of "Head Trip."
McNulty, Millie Rudnick: Loud-mouthed but generally good-hearted middle-aged widow who moved to Malibu Beach and briefly lived with the Monkees in "Monkee Mother." After Larry’s mother died, she set up a bakery she called "Millie’s Cheesecake and Other Goodies." Her bakery is a popular Malibu Beach hangout; Valerie Cartwright’s father Morgan loved Millie’s famous cheesecake so much, he requested they be sold in his grocery chain. The bakery became so popular that Millie hired Micky and Lauren to help out in "Icing on the Cake."
Nesmith, Katherine ("Katie"): Little Katherine Martha Nesmith was born in last part of "I Think I'm a Clone Now". She was named after Mike’s beloved Aunt Kate and Emma’s late maternal grandmother Martha. Sheila wanted to take her from Emma and raise her as the successor to her company Past, Present, Future Inc. and title of Chief Devil. Katie will be the next Scholar when she grows older, much to Shelia’s annoyance. She is adored by both parents, but is definitely Daddy's Little Girl. Her father dotes on her and calls her "cowgirl." Like the twins, she's now in school and loves every minute of it.
Nesmith, Robert Michael Jr. ("Robbie"): Born during the short story "Birth of a Nesmith", Robbie is the apple of his parents' eye. His sister adores him (most of the time), and he looks up to her. Like his father, he tends to be a bit shy around other young girls he's not related to.
Nielson
Nielson, Sergeant: Carried over from the original "Monkees" episode "Alias Micky Dolenz," Sergeant Nielson knows the Monkees and their antics well. One of the heads of the Malibu Beach Police Force, the Monkees have aided him several times in and out of the "Dream World" series.
O'Malley, Alexandra and Patrick: The owners of the Malibu Beach hot spot The Club Fairview first appeared in the end of "The Record Company Scandal" when they offered The Monkees and The Westminster Abbies contracts to play at their new discoteque. Alexandra is tall, smart, and was once a member of the MGM Studio Chorus. Her husband Patrick is short, balding, and fond of eating, food, and...did we say eating? The Monkees sold them the restored Club Caprice after the Fairview was destroyed in the flood in "The Rain, The Ark, And Other Things."
Onyx
Onyx: Onyx is Micky and Lauren's pet cat, aquired from a lab during "Nine Times Two."
Parker family
Parker, Grace, Mark, and Suzy: First appearing in the Monkees episode "Mijacogeo - The Frodis Caper," this family lives around the corner from the Pad. Grace is a nurse and a devoted mother, Mark works in an office, and Suzy is their only child and a friend of the Dolenz sisters. Suzy and Grace were first seen in "Dream World" when Suzy was invited to the party in "Monkee Masquerade"; Mark made his initial appearance in "Ooh Baby Baby."
Mrs. Purdy
Purdy, Marge: Another kindly little old widow who lives on Beachwood, she comes from the episode "Don't Look A Gift Horse In the Mouth." She first appeared on the "Dream World" series in "Head Trip" and was brielfy Micky and Lauren’s landlady when the pair rented an apartment above her garage as Micky worked on their new home during the "California" arc.
Bob & Bert
Rafelson, Bob, and Schneider, Bert: The real-life producers and creators of "The Monkees" are heard only as disembodied voices as they ask Emma, Lauren, and the four Monkees questions at the end of each story set.
Rosemarie: "Rosie" is the Monkees' second talking car. She was Valerie's beloved blue Corvette that was abandoned during the flood in "The Rain, The Ark, And Other Things." Micky and Mike fixed her in the cave, adding artificial intelligence, a host of gadgets, and the ability to fly to the sporty little coupe. Rosemarie (named for a Micky Dolenz song) is sweet and perky, but can be a smart aleck; she seems to have picked up Mick's sense of humor. Her experience in the flood has left her deathly afraid of water. She won't go near a puddle without getting nervous.
Scott, Janelle (nee Dolenz): Micky's mom. She acts somewhat as a mother figure to all of the Monkees, having raised four children on her own for many years. She first appears in "Monkee Masquarade" when she delivers the girls for a visit to the Pad.
Stimpson, Amber: Amber first appeared as a shallow, spoiled pop-star villian in "The Record Company Scandal," but changed her tune (literally) after the man who discovered her turned out to be more interested in her looks than her singing ability. She lived with the Westminster Abbies for a time and sang in lounges in the area, though she married and has since moved out.
Tilly
Tilly ("Matilda"): Tilly lives in the Orange Grove Apartments and first appeared when she raided Nyles' party for food in "The Devil and Michael Nesmith." She was based after a one-shot neighbor character from "Success Story" who turns up at the Monkees’ pad looking for a meal. Tilly apparently owns a small-time gag-gift company, but her real hobbies are listening to her neighbors and digging through tabloids and legitimate newspapers in search of gossip and conspiracies. Her favorites involve the US goverment’s defense program and alien invasions. Most of her "conspiracies" are hogwash, though every now and then she digs up a tidbit that turns out to be true. She's engaged to Marcus of The Four Martians as of "The Party."
Thorkleson, Austin: The second Thorkleson child was born between "Weekend at the Demon's" and "The Witch, the Demon, and the Monkees." He's both louder and more laid-back than his shy brother.
Thorkleson, Jordan Love: Valerie and Peter's son was born during the tag sequence of "Kids and Devils." He is a gentle, quiet toddler who rarely makes as much of a fuss as the other children. He shares his father's ability to read auras and emotions. His favorite thing to do is play on his little toy piano.
Max, Jen, & Kim
Wesminster Abbies, The: Daphne and her three best friends debuted on "The Monkees" episode "Some Like It Lukewarm" when Daphne had to dress as boy to get them in a mixed-gender rock contest. The female rockers first appeared in "Dream World" in "The Record Company Scandal" after a disasterous trip to Seattle. Native New Yorker Maxine is the group’s leader and voice of reason (though her driving leaves much to be desired); Jenny is a sensitive artist who sells her crafts to suppliment the girls’ income; Kimberly’s hobby is martial arts. The girls are among several neighborhood bands now under contract to Headquarters Records.
