Everyone ready to begin the next story?
Mike: Yeah.
Peter: I'm glad to be involved this time.
Micky: Ready!
Davy: Me, too, mates.
(We open at the Beach Cave. Peter leans against Ursula. Mike and Davy sword fight each other, the clanging of their weapons ringing in the crystalline cave.A pair of familiar legs stick out from under Ursula.)
Peter: Need anything else, Mick?
Ursula: Oooh! That tickles, Micky!
Micky: No thanks, Pete, I'm just about all set.
Mike: (Looks over his shoulder as he ducks away from Davy) How's it comin', Mick?
Micky: Just fine, Mike.
Peter: I think spending these last couple of weeks of summer together as a group is a great idea. We'll be able to help each other out before you guys go on your short tour of the Western US with Bobby and Tommy and I start teaching.
Mike: (Nods and turns to Peter) And we'll be able to do somethin' really nice for Labor..ow! (Davy smacks Mike's hand. He drops his sword and Davy points his sword at him)
Davy: Gotcha, Mike.
Mike: (Grins) Yeah, you got me, kid. You're gettin' better at that.
Peter: (Looks at his watch) I wonder where the girls are? Maybe Lauren needed something? How's she coming, anyway?
Micky: So far, so good. She hasn't driven me too nuts yet.
Mike: (Grins) That's always a good sign. What's the food cravin' this time? Em wants to know ahead of time, so she can have the cookie jar full.
Peter: And Lauren will be having them to herself. Katie and the twins will be in school starting in a few weeks.
Micky: Just about anything edible.
Mike: Katie's so excited about starting school. She can't wait. It's all she can talk about. She's played school at least once a day with Jordan and Robbie for the last week.
Peter: I feel a little sorry for Jordan, though. I think he feels left out.
Mike: What about the twins...not to mention Leah, who ain't in school yet, either?
Peter: Leah's probably too excited about being a big sister to think of the older ones going back to school.
Micky: Leah's unbelievably excited. The twins are just happy they're gonna be the big siblings again.
Peter: Maybe I could have Leah and Lizzie over sometime. They can meet Austin...and Jordan can tell them about being a big sibling. He loves his brother so much. He won't let anyone hurt him.
Mike: How is that kid, anyway?
Peter: Adorable...and noisy. (Yawns) I'm glad we have him, but sleeping's not easy right now.
Mike: I'm just glad Robbie's sleepin' through the night now. It's so nice to not have to get up at 3AM to feed the kid.
Peter: Yeah... (Frowns; sees a light on a panel by the door) That must be the girls. Who wants to let them in?
Mike: I'll do it. (Emma, Lauren, Valerie, and Daphne all come in at once. Emma holds a pile of newspapers) What's goin' on, darlin'? You said it was important.
Emma: (Nods) It is. I think this is a case for the MonkeeLeague. (Spreads out the newspapers on a coffee table made of a long, battered old crate covered with a heavy board) Have you guys been reading about the pirates?
Mike: (Nods) The ones who have been raidin' ships in Baja California and Northern Mexico. So? I thought the cops were on their trail.
Emma: We've been following that, too. Some of the descriptions of the victims of the raids seem interesting...and a little fishy.
Mike: What do you mean? (Leans over the newspapers; the others follow him)
Valerie: The newspapers say the victims of the last three ships raided seemed pale and listless after their ships were attacked. They lacked energy and emotion. They weren't even upset about the loss of their goods and vehicles, or even about the pirates. They weren't angry, or sad, or feeling anything.
Mike: (Shrugs) Maybe they just ain't the compassionate types.
Emma: Mike, don't you remember how you felt when our ship went down in February? You were angry, frightened, frustrated...
Mike: Not to mention frickin' cold.
Emma: The point is...isn't it odd that these people aren't feeling something? That they were just attacked by pirates, and yet are listless and lack energy...and don't seem to care? Doesn't that description sound familiar to any of you?
Mike: No feelin's...
Peter: No soul.
Valerie: And who do we know takes souls?
Mike: Why would the devils be involved with pirates?
Valerie: Micky, didn't Alex make some kind of a box that could remove souls from groups of people? Last seen in the Country Club, I believe.
Micky: Yeah, he did. Not sure what became of it...
Peter: Looks like we just found out.
Mike: Maybe we boys could fly out to sea and check it out.
Emma: We'll take Rosemarie and do some research. I want to find out more about the pirates and how they've been operating.
Valerie: Micky, are the cars finished?
Micky: All set. *dusts his hands off*
Mike: Ok, then. (Turns to the other guys) Let's fly, my good Monkeemen!
Emma: (Turns to the women) And we'll take off in our dear Rosemarie.
Daphne: Yeah.
Valerie: Rosie could use the run. I haven't taken her flying in ages.
Emma: And we could even bring the kids along. They love flying in Rosemarie.
Mike: (Grins at the guys) And we're off! (He takes off...and falls back down, having hit the ceiling) But let's go outside first.
Peter: You ok, Michael?
Mike: Yeah, just...peachy. (Gets up...and wobbles) But could you guys help me up, please?
(Peter just grins at Micky, and the two of them help Mike to his feet.)
(Cut to the air...or at least, the sky backdrop with the guys against it, obviously on wires. All four guys are in the "air." )
Mike: Pete, I'm fine. Seriously.
Peter: You hit the ceiling awfully hard. Micky, maybe you and Michael ought to work on a way for us to take off - on our own or in Rosemarie - without leaving the cave.
Micky: We could figure out something.
Mike: (He's looking around) Does anyone see anything or have heard anything yet?
Peter: (Shakes his head) Just waves and whales. You catching anything, Mick? Davy?
Micky: *points ahead* I think I found who we're looking for...
(The camera cuts down to where Micky's pointed to. We see stock footage of a speed boat coasting along the waves. It's larger than a speed boat for personal use, but it's hardly a pirate galleon of old. We get several shots of assorted large, burly, rugged-looking men moving crates and boxes around onboard.)
Mike: (Nods) Good work, Mick. Let's check it out.
(Cut down to the deck of the ship. The burly men move around the ship. The largest and cleanest, a huge, tall man with his long hair tied back and wearing a fisherman's jumpsuit, comes out of the hatch with Sheila on his arm.)
Captain: We're coming up on The Patricia now, Miss Saunders. It's the personal vessel of one Seymour Undergrass, the third wealthiest man under 30 in Los Angeles. We'll get a big haul off that boy, huh?
Sheila: (Smirks) In more ways than one, Captain Harris. You'll get what you want...and I'll get plenty of what I want.
(Alex and Zelda come up behind them. Sheila turns to them as Harris goes to prepare his men.)
Sheila: You have the box ready, Alex?
Alex: All ready.
Sheila: Good. We'll be boarding "The Patricia" shortly. I'm glad you'd met Captain Harris before, Alex. He's not normally my type, but he's a very useful man.
(The Captain comes over to Sheila and Alex and grins. He points at the box.)
Captain Harris: Got that little box of yours ready? It'll knock everyone out so we can grab the loot!
Sheila: You have no idea.
(No one sees four bodes in green, blue, white, and red land behind a large crate.)
Mike: (Soft growl) Sheila.
Peter: The devils ARE involved.
Mike: That box look familiar, Mick?
Micky: Yup, that's the same one.
Peter: The soul-removing machine.
Mike: I thought that's what was happenin'. They get that on the ship somehow and turn it loose.
Peter: Just long enough for them to get souls and the pirates to get money and jewels.
Mike: We've gotta stop these guys. At least long enough to save "The Patricia."
Peter: Yes, and I really think we should...
Mike: (Pulls out his sword) Let's get those assholes.
Peter: Michael, I wouldn't do that... (But Mike jumps out from behind the crate, followed by an eager Micky) if I were you. (Turns to Davy with a sigh) Shall we save them?
Davy: Might as well.
("Auntie's Municipal Court" begins as Mike and Micky charge, sword and knives raised. The pirates pull iron bars and poles, ready to face the attackers.)
Captain Harris: (Growls) No, no, you fools! Forget them! We're comin' up on "The Patricia!"
Mike: No, you ain't! (Mike runs to the top of the cannon, where several guns lay. He concentrates. There's a blue light around the cannon...and the cannon is tied in knots.)
Peter: Leave that ship alone! Micky, get that box! (He puts up his sword to hold the Captain back.)
(Sheila is about to lunge for Micky...but a familiar green arrow pins the cuff of her bell bottom trousers to the floor of the ship. Peter, holding his crossbow, nods.)
Sheila: Alex, protect that box at all costs!
(Davy knocks his way through most of the pirate army. "The Patricia," a large yacht, can be seen floating by in the distance. Several of the carousing people on the ship actually wave to the pirates as they pass!)
*Alex runs, holding the box like a football.*
(Peter attaches a rope to one of his arrows. He shoots it through the sleeves of several men, stringing them over the cabin so they look rather like the top of a football goal.)
(Mike gets in front of Alex and makes a jump for him, but Alex ducks under him. Mike hits the deck, and the pirates jump on him. Peter finally helps Mike out from under the pirate pile.)
(Peter tries to lunge for Alex next, but he jumps over him!)
(Mike makes the announcements, with the pirates cheering or booing behind him. Davy sells peanuts.)
*Micky bends down to tie his shoe laces. Alex ends up tripping backwards over him. Micky grabs the box and raises it in the air, crowing.*
(Sheila smirks and swivels her hips, bumping Micky off his feet. Micky goes flying...and so does the box!)
*The box ends up landing in Zelda's hands. She smirks.*
Captain Harris: Blast it! (Points to "The Patricia" as it floats off in the distance) We lost 'er! We'll never catch up with her now without drawin' attention to ourselves!
Mike: Which is just what we had in mind.
Peter: (Puts up his crossbow and aims it at Zelda) Drop that, Zelda. We know what it is.
Mike: Yeah, man.
Sheila: I'm afraid not, gentlemen. Farewell! Captain, we'll meet you at the usual place later.
(There's a black light around Alex, Zelda, and Sheila. When it subsides, the trio are gone.)
Captain Harris: (Eyes widen; the pirates all look around, trying to figure out where they went) My god, how did they do that?
Mike: You don't wanna know.
Captain Harris: (Points at Mike) Get those blunderin' fools! They lost us booty!
Mike: Sorry, boys, but we have other places to be. Let's fly, Monkeemen!
Peter: (As Mike takes off) Michael, wait! (Makes his crossbow disappear and takes off shakily after him)
*Micky and Davy shrug at each other and take off after the others.*
Captain: (Shakes his fist at the two) Come back here, you miscreants! Damn it, if modern pirates still had planks, you'd be walking them! (Turns to his men, all still looking for Sheila and the devils) What are you all staring at? Swab the poop deck and pack our booty! We're headin' for shore!
(We fade out on the pirates as they all shrug at each other and start about their duties.)
