"It Never Snows In Southern California"

It was two weeks before Christmas. Lauren gazed out the balcony doors at the bare ground.

Micky finished putting the dishes in the rack and dried his hands on his pants. "Babe, you okay?"

Lauren sighed. "Yeah. It just seems weird that it’s December and there’s no snow on the ground and I’m not freezing my butt off."

Micky grinned as he crossed over to her. "You’ve got me to help prevent that!"

She swatted him. "You know what I mean!" Lauren gazed out the doors again. "As much as I hated the shoveling and freezing temperatures, I miss the beauty of snow. And having a white Christmas."

"I could sing ‘I’m Dreaming Of A Green Christmas’ for you," he suggested, with a wink.

"That makes the holiday sound commercial! It probably sounds strange to you, since you’ve only seen green Christmases. I’ve only seen white Christmases, with the exception of the occasional lack of snowfall for the big day." Lauren turned to Micky again. "I already miss it and Christmas isn’t for two weeks still." She sighed. "I’m being childish about this..."

"No, you aren’t, Lauren. I know what you’re saying."

"I guess I’ll just have to keep dreaming. That’s the only way I’m gonna see snow this year." Lauren gave Micky a kiss on the cheek. "I’m going to bed."

Micky nodded. "I’ll be in in a bit." He gave her a kiss in return, then smiled, resting a hand on her stomach. Lauren gave him a half-hearted smile in return before she headed for the bedroom.

He sighed, glancing out the doors. After a few moments, an idea crossed his mind and his face brightened immediately. "I know the perfect present...!"

* * * * *

Early Christmas morning. Lauren woke up and made her way sleepily out of the bedroom, headed for the bathroom. Just before going in, something caught her eye. She turned and went to the balcony doors. Her eyes widened. It was snowing.

"Micky!"

She moved as quickly as she could back to the bedroom.

Micky was rubbing at his eyes, frowning. "Babe, ya know wha’ time it is?"

Lauren grabbed his arm. "It’s snowing!"

A small grin appeared. "Snowin’, huh?" He let her pull him up and drag him out to the balcony doors. He silently congratulated himself on remembering to actually wear pajamas for a change as it was much colder, considering it was snowing. "Well, whadaya know." He leaned against the door frame and gazed out, his eyelids drooping.

"I can’t believe it!" Lauren grinned widely. It fell when she turned back to Micky and found him asleep, standing up. She shook him lightly. "Mick?"

"Huh? Wha--" He blinked at her.

"Are you okay?"

He waved it off as his eyes closed again. "Jus’ tired..." And he fell asleep again.

So Lauren shook him again. "Mick, come on. What’s the matter?"

Micky’s eyes opened half way. "I made it snow." He gave a big yawn. "Wiped me out..." His eyes closed and once again fell asleep.

Lauren looked out the doors and took in the weather that shouldn’t have been. He did this for me. He used up his powers to make it snow for me. She nodded slightly and closed her eyes.

A blue light appeared around Micky and he disappeared. Lauren made her way back to the bedroom and stopped at the door. He was back in bed, under the blankets, snoring away.

Lauren smiled, then went to grab her coat. She stepped out on the balcony and watched it snow.
