Part 3

Everyone ready for party fun?

Mike: I'll be home in a minute, darlin!

Peter: All right!

Micky: YEAH!! ;)

Davy: Lookin' forward to it, luv. :)

Lauren: Definitely! :)

(The women are all admiring the cake when Mike comes in, a bit grimy from work.)

Mike: Hi, ladies! (Gives Emma a kiss) Hey, darlin'. (Admires the cake) The words are a little crooked, but it's still pretty nice. Bet it tastes good, too.

Emma: (Laughs) Maybe it would be straighter if I had more icing to work with!

Mike: (Nods at the other women in the room) Oh, hi Mrs. Parker, hi Mrs. S, Lauren. Where's everyone else?

Lauren: Outside on the beach.

Emma: They took the kids on the beach to let some of that energy out before the party starts or the storm hits, whichever comes first. (Shakes her head) And you need to take a shower and change, young man, before you eat a bite or touch ANYTHING. You're filthy!

Mike: Just got a little dirty...

*Lauren grins.*

*Janelle chuckles.*

Emma: Honey, you smell like a used car lot. Go change and get cleaned up. Don't you want to look nice for all the party guests?

Mike: (Chuckles) What's wrong with how I look now? I think the blue and black go well together.

Emma: (Points to the living room) Into the bathroom, young man. (Nods at Jannelle and Grace) We DO have mothers here, you know. They COULD send you to your room.

Mike: (Grins wickedly) Wanna come with me?

Emma: Sorry, baby, took my shower early this morning.

Mike: Wanna take another one?

Lauren: And you say Mick is bad!

Emma: (Ushers him into the living room) Honey, I've got things to do, and you do, too. The other guests will be arriving soon!

Mike: Eeeeeeeeemmmmmm....

Emma: (Gives him a kiss on his cheek) Later, after all the guests are gone, we'll do something together, ok?

Mike: (Sighs) Oh, all right. (As he heads for the bathroom) I'm gonna hold you to that, darlin', you know.

Emma: I'm looking forward to it. (He finally gets in the bathroom. She turns to the other three women and smiles sheepishly) Not hard to tell we've only been married for a few weeks, huh?

*Lauren just grins.*

Emma: We wish we had more time to be together, but we've both had to work since we got back from our honeymoon.

Janelle: Honey, don't worry about it. Soon you'll have plenty of time. You might even wish you had less time. *grins and winks*

Emma: (Laughs) He can be so standoffish sometimes, but when he's in the right mood. (blushes)

Grace Parker: It's nice to see you two are so happy. I seem to remember hearing a few nasty arguements between you two when you and Lauren first moved to the neighborhood.

Emma: (Sighs) Yeah, we still do that, too, but we know we love each other now. We don't MEAN to hurt each other, but we're just both so stubborn, I guess.

Grace Parker: Arguements happen to even the best of couples, Emma. Most of them blow over in an hour or two. You just have to agree on the major things and not let the petty squabbles take over your life.

Emma: (Sighs) I know. I've never been much for arguing. When I was a kid, arguing meant (softly) getting hurt.

Grace Parker: (Shakes her head) It's just a way of working out differences, honey.

Janelle: Sometimes it even makes you feel better.

Emma: I guess I'm not used to relationships at all. I didn't think people really cared much for me. I'm not pretty and I have some very eccentric tastes. I've never been good at making or keeping friends.

Lauren: Well, you know THAT part isn't true. *smiles*

Emma: (Shrugs as she puts the cake in the refrigerator) I'm just not USED to having friends. I guess I'm the opposite of Mike. I come from a big family...but I've never been very good at making friends or keeping them once I did make them. Mike's got friends, but I don't think he's really used to having a family. He was raised by just his mom. (Small smile) My family completely baffles him. He doesn't understand how we can be so close. :)

Grace Parker: You seem to have good friends right here.

Janelle: That you do, dear.

Emma: (Shrugs) I'm just not used to it. In the world I come from, you know people for two or three months out of the year, and then they go away again. Until I met Lauren, I didn't think it was possible for me to sustain a friendship at all. I'm not much of a party person, and I don't go to clubs unless the guys are playing there.

Lauren: She just needed to find the same type of person. I've always been a homebody.

Emma: Mike is, too. So's Peter. Davy and Mick tease them about it all the time.

Lauren: I set Mick in his place, though.

Emma: I'm afraid Daphne's gonna be no help for Davy, though. From what I've gathered from Maxine and Kim, she's just as big of a clubber as he is.

Grace Parker: Daphne? Max...(smiles)...oh, the other young ladies. I think I've seen them around before. Another local band, if memory serves me correctly.

Emma: (Nods) The Westminster Abbies. Nice girls, all of them. Daphne is their percussionist, and she and Davy are crazy about each other.

Lauren: Which was obvious to everyone BUT them for a while there.

Emma: (Nods) Davy's not used to being in love with one person at a time. (Pulls out two bottles of soda and another bottle of punch)

Grace Parker: (Chuckles) I've heard rumors to that effect.

Janelle: I've witnessed that first-hand.

Emma: (Chuckles) That's right. The guys told me you had Micky and Davy for a while before they got the Pad. Must have been pretty nuts. ;) (Starts mixing soda and juice in a large punch bowl)

Janelle: *nods* It was. *grins* Micky alone was a handful.

Lauren: *smirks* Don't I know it.

Emma: (Chuckles) He was a handful when we were all living together. I can't imagine all the mischief him and the little girls and Davy could get into together.

Janelle: I have PLENTY of stories I could tell you. Of course, Micky doesn't like it when I tell them. So I wait until he's in the room to share. *winks*

(Mike emerges from the bathroom, showered and dressed in a clean Oxford shirt, trousers, boots, and a tie, as all the women laugh.)

Mike: Did I miss something hilarious? Can you share it with me, or is it women stuff?

Emma: Just Micky stories, baby. (Gives him another kiss and looks him over) Oooh, you DO clean up well!

Mike: (Shrugs) You wanted me to look nice, so...

Emma: At least I won't have to choose YOUR clothing.

*Lauren snickers.*

Mike: Nahh, I wear the same thing all the time, anyway.

Grace Parker: (Looks out the window as she finishes her coffee - the clouds are getting increasingly darker and are practically over the beach now) Someone's got to call in the beachgoers. I want to get Suzy and Mark home before this storm hits.

Emma: I'll do it. (Puts down the spoon she used to mix the punch and goes outside)

Mike: So, how's everything, ladies? How's the party coming? Does Micky know about...well, you know...

Lauren: Doesn't know anything. He was bugging me about it at home, though. It'll be worth it.

Mike: Good. Can't WAIT to see the look on his face when we spring this surprise party on him! This was a great idea, Lauren. He thinks the party's just for the kids. It's really for ALL the kids.

Janelle: It's about time Micky got a surprise of his own.

Lauren: *grins* I figured he DESERVED it.

Mike: God only knows how many he's given US over the years.

Janelle: You think your list is long. *smiles*

(Everyone troops back in, including four sandy-but-happy little girls, Peter, Micky, Davy, Mark Parker, Amber, and the Abbies.)

Peter: That was fun! Shame it got cold, though.

Mark Parker: We'll have to do it again sometime.

Daphne: We made a GREAT sandcastle!

Maxine: Yeah, man, that thing was a palace!

Lauren: No one got buried in the sand? *grins at Micky as he sits next to her*

Micky: Now why are you looking at me like that, babe?

Grace Parker: (To the girls) Now, you young ladies wouldn't bury anyone in the sand, would you?

Coco: Not unless we had permission or they fell asleep.

*Micky laughs.*

Davy: And we weren't about to fall asleep this time!

Grace Parker: (Takes her family's coats) Come on, Suzy, honey. It's time to go home.

Suzy: But MOOOMMMM, I'm having FUNNN!

Grace Parker: I don't like the look of the weather, honey. There's a big storm coming. We'll come back another time.

Suzy: But I LIKE it here! The girls are fun, and they have all those groovy instruments and the beach is right at their back door!

Mark Parker: (Puts his hand around his daughter's shoulder) You'll come back another time, honey. Right now, I agree with your mother. You wouldn't have been able to stay on the beach, anyway. It was getting really windy and cold.

Suzy: Awwwwww...

Grace Parker: (Sighs) Suzy, we'll come back again tomorrow or sometime next week, but the storm could hit at any minute. (Helps her daugher into her coat)

Mark Parker: Thanks for a great afternoon, guys. I haven't had that much excersize since I played running back on my high school's football team.

Micky: *grins* Anytime!

Grace Parker: (Nods) Thank you for the conversation, ladies. (Smiles) Lauren, you and Micky are going to be just fine.

Lauren: *smiles* Thank you.

Suzy: Can I come see the babies sometime when they're born?

Micky: Of course you can!

Suzy: Could you play a song for me the next time I come? Maybe I could even play with you!

Mike: (Shrugs) What the heck? We could always use another dedicated musician.

Micky: The more, the merrier. ;)

Grace Parker: (Laughs) Ok, Suz, it's time to go. Say "thank you" to the Dolenzes and we'll be on our way. :)

Suzy: (Nods at Lauren and Micky) Thank you! I had a really groovy time! The girls are so much fun! :D

Lauren and Micky: You're welcome! *glare at each other*

Suzy: (Giggles as everyone else laughs) Oh, you're twins too!

Grace Parker: No, just really in tune to each other, sweetums.

Mark Parker: (Grins) That's uncanny!

Grace Parker: Ok, let's go. Thanks again for everything.

Mark Parker: Yeah, good luck with the party!

(They all head out.)

Mike: Cute kid. They're nice too, even if they do spoil that girl a bit.

Emma: I think Suzy's adorable. She has a crush on Mike.

Mike: Emmmmm...

Micky: Awwww! ;)

Peter: Who's up for a party game? (Pulls a sheet off the wall to reveal a Pin-The-Tail-On-The-Donkey game)

Daphne: Sounds like fun. Wanna give it a try, Dave?

Davy: Why not? I've got excellent senses.

Micky: As long as no one jabs me.

Lauren: I said I was sorry about that, Mick.

(Emma and Mike chuckle.)

Kimberly: I'm in.

Maxine: Not me. I'd rather be where there are fewer sharp objects held by dizzy people. ;) :p

Jenny: Oh, Maxie, you're no fun! I'm in!

Lauren: *nods* Me, neither. I'm with Max on this one.

Maxine: (Plops next to Lauren at the kitchen table) I like smart people.

*Lauren grins.*

Mike: Think I'll stay with you girls. I like my holes to be in Swiss cheese.

Emma: I'm making the sherbert ring for the punch, so I'm out.

Janelle: I'll watch, thank you. *smiles*

Kimberly: (Puts her arm around Amber) How 'bout you, Ambs? You brave enough to face the fearsome mule?

Amber: Sure, why not? *grins* ;)

Kimberly: And I'm going to assume the young ladies will want to play.

Coco: Of course! *nods, grinning*

Micky: Just be careful where you aim, Coco. You're a jabber, too.

*Coco sticks her tongue out at him.*

Kimberly: We'll all stay out of your way.

Daphne: FAAAAARRRRRR out of your way.

Davy: I 'eard Australia is nice this time of yeah.

Coco: *grins* It's usually just Curls that I find. *Micky rolls his eyes*

(Everyone laughs again. Peter pulls out a cloth and a paper donkey "tail" on a tack.)

Peter: Ok, who wants to go first?

Lauren: *grinning* Can I nominate Micky?

Peter: (City-lighting grin) Sure!

Davy: Oh, this should be cute. ;)

Micky: *groans* Babe...

Davy: (Swings his arms around) Ok, everyone, give 'im a lot of SPACE...

Micky: Hey?

Kimberly: How about we all go outside while he does this?

Lauren: We'll be a LOT safer.

Micky: I won't take up the whole room!

Jenny: We'll all have to stand back, then.

(Peter blindfolds Micky and spins him around fast three times, then gives him a "tail" and sends him off in the general direction of the "donkey.")

Peter: Careful, Micky! Don't bump into anything!

Mike: Don't fall off the edge of the Earth!

Micky: *waves his arms around blindly* Very funny, Mike!

Kimberly: (Ducks away from him) And watch that tack! You could have taken an eye out!

Jenny: Aw, Kim, quit complaining. He barely touched your elbow. (Kim sticks her tongue out at Jen.)

Micky: *pauses, sways* Wha? *turns another direction* Oh, man...am I even CLOSE yet?

Davy: (Chuckles) If you're trying to give Mr. Schneider a tail, yes.

Lauren: *laughs* Getting colder, Mick!

Micky: Geez... *turns again*

Peter: Now you're warmer, Micky!

Maxine: At least he's on the right side of the room.

Jenny: Watch out for the bandstand!

Micky: Ha ha. *waves his arms again* The wha... *trips against the banstand* Ow!

Mike: Jumped right out in front of him!

Micky: Yes, it did! *turns again*

Davy: You're definitely warmah, Micky.

Peter: No, you're getting colder again!

Micky: *thumps into the wall* Ow. I'm gonna be black and blue before I FIND the thing! :P

Davy: (Follows behind Micky) You're gettin' warmah again, Mick.

Micky: *grumbles* Good. About time!

(Micky finally reaches the wall with the "Donkey." Jenny and Amber, who were watching nearby, scatter.)

(Davy stands next to the "Donkey," grinning.)

Micky: Alright... *feels around*

Peter: You're red-hot, Mick!

Davy: Practically there.

Micky: *pauses, shrugs, and sticks the tail* Well? *pulls off the blindfold*

(The tail is tacking Davy's yellow coat to the wall...NEXT to the donkey.)

Micky: Aw man! :P

Davy: 'EY! (Pulls the tack out, then puts it back ON the donkey) You put a 'ole in me coat!

Micky: Sorry, Dave, but it got too close!

Peter: Well, you shouldn't have been standing next to the donkey, Davy. Which reminds me, who's next? (Looks at the girls) How about one of you ladies?

Coco: I will! *grins*

Micky: *eyes widen* Uh oh. *moves into the kitchen* I'm getting as far away from you as possible!

*Coco sticks her tongue out again.*

Peter: Ok, Coco! (Ties the cloth around her eyes, then spins her, not as quickly as he did Micky, and turns her in the direction of the donkey) There you go!

Coco: *puts her hands out, moving almost in a straight line* Am I close?

Peter: Watch out for the bandstand!

Jenny: You're halfway there!

Coco: *stops, turns* How about now?

Daphne: You're better, honey. (Gets out of her way as she makes her way to the "donkey")

Maxine: Getting warmer there, little lady.

Coco: *continues moving straight ahead* As long as I don't crash into the wall. *grins*

(She bumps into the wall with the "donkey," but not hard.)

Peter: Red-hot!

Davy: Oooh, you're on fire!

Coco: Okay! *sticks the tail and removes her blindfold*

*Her tail is stuck close to where it should be, though it's a little low. Coco claps, grinning.*

Peter: There you go, honey!

Kimberly: Nice work, kiddo!

Davy: Good aim.

Coco: Yay! :D

(There's a knock on the door. Mike crosses over to look in the grille.)

Mike: Oh, it's Valerie. (Opens the door; Valerie comes in, carrying several full shopping bags) Hey, Val. We're playing "Pin-The-Tail-On-The-Donkey."

Valerie: (Grins) Sounds painful. (Comes in with laden arms to the living room)

Peter: Here, honey, let me help you with that. (Takes the bags downstairs to Emma and Mike's room)

Valerie: (Puts her coat aside and shivers) It's getting really nasty out there. The wind is blowing something fierce and it's going to rain any minute. I hope my dad's ok. He's out of town at a convention in San Diego. Chrissy should be fine at Sarah's house. (Grins at "Pin The Tail On the Donkey") I haven't played this since I was (puts her hand on Debbie's head) THIS high!

Peter: We're still having the party, though. Everyone else should be arriving soon, too. :)

Micky: *grins* We're a foolhearty group.

Mike: (Shrugs) What the heck, a party's a party, and havin' twins is havin' twins.

Micky: Yeah. Uh, hey, I've been meaning to ask, does today mean anything else to anyone?

Mike: Well, let's see... (scratches his head)

(Emma concentrates on her sherbert ring and tactfully ignores the question ;) )

Janelle: There was that snowstorm back in '41...

Davy: I'm still workin' on it, Mick.

Micky: Don't anyone hurt themselves thinking. *glares at Davy*

Valerie: (Shrugs) The day of my dad's convention?

*Lauren just shrugs.*

Jenny: (Tries for innocent) There's something going ON?

Kimberly: (Elbows her) Don't be OBVIOUS, Jen!

*The girls exchange looks, but don't say anything.*

Maxine: Two weeks until spring! :D

Micky: *sighs, leaning back in his chair* Never mind.
