Everyone ready for some magic? ;)
Micky: Yeah! ;)
Davy: Sure!
(Mike just struggles - he's still a puppy.)
(We open in the darkened theater. Darren leads Davy out to the stage.)
Darren: David, I want to have a talk with you without your friends nearby.
Davy: *nods* Okay, mate. Wot did you want to talk about?
Darren: Your powers.
Davy: Uhh...
Darren: David, you're afraid you don't have the same level of power that your friends do.
Davy: Yeah... I am.
Darren: I told you before that one of my abilities is being able to sense them in others. (He smiles) I think you may have some power within that you've tapped into without knowing it.
Davy: Really? Then, wot is it?
Darren: How often have you fallen in love in your life?
Davy: *slight chuckles* I sort of lost count around age ten.
Darren: (Grins) I suspected as much. That is your power - love. I believe you also have some low-level healing ability. Can you tell if your friends are in love before they can?
Davy: *smirks* Yeah, I can.
Darren: Can you tell if I'm in love?
Davy: *thinks a moment* I can tell you aren't in love currently. Your girl left you years ago. You are looking, though. Word of advice, check out the dance 'alls. Just wear something currently fashionable & you'll fit right in. ;)
Darren: (Grins) I'll keep that in mind. What about your two friends?
Davy: *smirks again* Mick, definitely. Mike is, but 'e's letting 'is work get in front of it.
Darren: Perhaps you would work with Mike and his wife - Emma, I believe is her name? If we practice, I could show you how to not only recognize love, but bring it out in other people...and how to restore it.
Davy: I'd like that, thanks.
Darren: (Looks up; sees Micky storm over) And here's your first bit of practice. I take it things didn't go well with Michael.
Micky: No.
Darren: (He goes to Micky) Calm down. We'll see a demonstration of your powers in good time.
*Micky just narrows his eyes.*
Darren: David, maybe this would be a good time to show us your other power.
Davy: If this works, I'm gonna wish I'd realized it soonah.
*Davy goes over to Micky, who gives him an odd look. He backs off a little as Davy reaches for his chest, but lets him touch where his heart is. Micky's eyes widen for a moment. He finally lets out a sigh.*
Micky: *almost chuckling* What a rush, man!
Davy: Wow!
Darren: Good work, David! (Grins) And we probably owe you one. Micky looked like he was ready to take out UCLA's entire varsity football squad without padding.
*Micky blushes a bit at the comment. Davy laughs.*
Davy: Thank you, Darren.
Darren: You're welcome. (Grins and makes an apple appear from his sleeve) We'll have to work on enhancing and, in Micky's case, controlling those powers. (As he continues to play with the apple, moving it around and through his fingers) Where's Michael? Did you knock him into a Tuesday in next month?
Micky: *sighs* No, I turned him into a puppy and left him in the room.
Darren: (Continues to play with the apple) Well, we'll have to do something about that. We can't leave him like that all day. (Makes the apple disappear into his sleeve) As much as I'm sure you want that, I don't think his wife would appreciate it. (Makes the apple appear behind Micky's ear and hands it to him) Enjoy.
*Micky grins, then munches happily.*
(Cut to the dressing room. The three enter the room, Micky still working on his apple. Mike is still a puppy and still tied to the chair.)
Darren: (Strokes Mike's head) I think he'll be more willing to cooperate with us now.
(Mike looks up, his big brown eyes still teary, then looks away.)
Darren: I have an idea of how restore him. (Looks at Davy) You could try to see if your healing abilities can reverse your other powers. It may not work with everything you can do, but it's worth a try.
Davy: I'll give it a try... *touches Mike's heart*
(There's a small blue light around Mike, lighter in color than even the non-tainted regular Imagination light. When it subsides, Mike sits in the chair again. He's no longer tied to it, but he doesn't move and doesn't look up at the others.)
Darren: Well done, David!
Davy: Thank you!
Mike: (Finally looks up) I...what happened? What was that?
Darren: It was your friend David's powers, Michael. You don't know as much about him as you thought you did.
Mike: (Looks down again) I guess not.
Davy: I didn't know about them, eithah, Mike.
Darren: We're going to work with all your powers. Yours too, Michael. (Turns to Micky) Are you ready to work on yours?
Mike: (Pulls back) I don’t think I wanna do this anymore...
Micky: I'm not so sure.
Darren: Let me calm you down. (Puts his fingers gently on Micky's forehead) Are you ready to work with me now?
Micky: *nods once* Yeah.
Mike: Mick?
Davy: I don't know about this.
Darren: Which would you like to work on first, Micky?
Micky: Davy.
Mike: Oh man... (Steps shakily in front of Davy)
Davy: 'Ey, mate, I 'elped you!
(Darren merely steps back, now playing with a coin in his hand.)
Micky: Out of my way, Mike.
Mike: Micky, don't do anythin' you're gonna regret. I'll let you pass with the dog thing, 'cause you weren't thinkin', but let's not get ugly here.
Micky: You had to turn Mike back! You're always trying to outdo me, Davy!
Davy: 'Ey, the poor guy was sufferin'!
Mike: Micky, I don't enjoy bein' a large dog, much less a small one.
Micky: Yeah, well, you were being a pain! *turns back to Davy* Come'ere Dave, and let’s see how well you can heal yourself!
Mike: Micky!
Darren: Michael, stay out of this. This is their time. (He lifts his hand. Two large orange trees grow around Mike, trapping him between them.)
Mike: Damn it! (He concentrates, trying to free himself)
*Micky launches himself at Davy, and the two tumble across the stage. Micky throws several punches, while Davy does his best to block them. He misses on a few and gets hit.*
Micky: Lets see just how PRETTY your face is after I'm done with you!
Davy: Mick!
Mike: Micky, NO! Stop! You don't know what you're doing! (He concentrates further on the trees. They widen a little, just enough for him to start to push through)
*Micky doesn't stop. He just continues to punch. Davy slow stops trying to block the hits.*
Mike: (Turns to Darren) Can't you stop 'em, 'steada playin' with that darn coin?
Darren: They're grown men, Michael. I think they're capable of rescuing themselves.
Mike: Yeah, but...
Darren: But what? You can't trust them to make their own decisions?
Mike: I know them. You don't. I've seen them do this before, with some real ugly results.
Darren: David, use your healing powers.
Mike: Micky! God damn it, cut it out! Lay off Dave, before there's nothin' left!
*Davy, now bloodied and bruised, reaches for Micky's heart while he's distracted. He touches his friend's chest. Micky's eyes to widens. He pulls back in horror.*
Micky: Oh my Lord...
Mike: Micky! Guys!
Darren: Good work, David. Now, heal yourself.
Mike: Micky, buddy, what happened there?
*Davy touches his own heart. There's the lighter blue light, and he's completely healed.*
Micky: I...I don't know! Something just came over me! I couldn't stop!
Mike: Guys, I'm comin'. (He finally blue-lights out of the orange trees and runs over to the other two) You ok?
Davy: *sighs* Yeah, I'm okay.
Micky: *runs his hands over his face* Oh man...
Darren: That was wonderful! (He goes to the others) You deserve this. (He tosses the coin to Davy...but nothing lands in his hand) Look in your pocket. Micky, you too.
Davy: Wot... *sticks a hand in one pocket and pulls out a wad of bill* Wow!
Micky: Hey... *also pulls out a wad of bills* Is this REAL?
Darren: Very real.
Darren: You know, David, your friend Micky did something rather interesting by making Michael into an animal. I wonder...could you do that, too?
Davy: But I don't want to mess with Mike.
Mike: (Crosses his arms) No you don't, boy.
Darren: He's not a boy, Michael. (He puts his finger on Davy's forehead)
Mike: Stop doin' that!
Micky: Uh oh.
Darren: Micky, why don't you go work on your car? I'll send David out to you when he's finished. (He throws a heavy green velvet cape around Micky's shoulders. When he removes it, Micky's gone) I'll need Mike a bit longer.
Mike: Why?
Darren: You need the most work.
Mike: The most work?
Darren: You fascinate me the most of all. You're so strong, so powerful.
Mike: But...
Darren: But first... (to Davy) What kind of animal would you like Michael to be?
Mike: (Steps back towards the orange grove) Man, how do I make those trees grow around me again?
Darren: Now, Michael... (He puts the cape on Mike. Mike doesn't vanish, however. He just stops)
Davy: Now?
Darren: Yes, while he's immobile.
Davy: Don't worry, Mike, this won't 'urt...at the moment. *changes Mike into a rabbit*
Darren: (Grins) So that's how it's done. (He looks up) We'll work on the darkness in your light. It would seem that your light has been...tainted, somehow. Yours and Michael's. Micky's isn't so dark.
Davy: 'Is was changed back to almost normal a while ago.
Darren: Let's work on concentrating. Concentrate on our friend the rabbit. What do you want him to do?
Davy: Okay. 'Ow about 'e's stands on 'is 'ind legs?
Darren: I'd like to see that.
*Davy concentrates. Mike the bunny stands on his hind legs.*
Darren: (Claps) Bravo! Concentrate some more. I know how his tyrannical ways upset you and Micky. Show him what it's like to be controlled.
*Davy concentrates more. Mike hops around in circles.*
Darren: Adorable! Do more!
*Davy makes a carrot appear and taunts Mike with it. Mike timidly takes the carrot, gnawing on it.*
Darren: Poor rabbit must be worn out from all this exertion.
Davy: 'E needed some nourishment.
Darren: (Picks up Mike and his carrot) Now, how would you like to help me perform some of my tricks with our friend Michael?
Davy: I'd be 'onored.
Darren: David, put your finger on the rabbit's forehead. That's how you can control his mind.
*Davy does so.*
Darren: Concentrate on him and his thoughts. What is he thinking (smirks slightly) that's repeatable in public?
Davy: He wants to know what's going on here.
Darren: Now, concentrate on him. We want him to remain calm and to do what we say.
Davy: Right. *concentrates*
(The rabbit rolls over on his stomach, allowing Davy to pet him. When Davy moves his hand, he nuzzles it. When he lifts his hand, Mike stands on his hind legs again.)
Darren: Oh, we can make him do any number of tricks now. (He moves his hand around Mike - he dances on his hind legs)
(Davy raises his hand. Mike turns over on his stomach. Davy lowers his hand. Mike turns back over. His large brown-pink eyes are completely blank.)
Darren: David, I have an idea. How was your light tainted.
Davy: I 'ad an...um...'run in' with someone with rathah evil powahs.
Darren: Davy, concentrate on yourself. Put your hand on your heart.
Davy: Okay. *does so*
(The light around Davy starts out dark, but it gradually lightens until it looks like Micky's light.)
Darren: How do you feel now, David?
Davy: I feel... *pauses a moment* better. It's 'ard to explain.
Darren: (Gently puts his finger on Davy's forehead) Yes, you are better. Feel like a cloud's lifted?
Davy: Yes, it does.
Darren: Good. Now, restore Michael to his human form...but leave him sleeping. I want to work on him.
Davy: Okay. *changes Mike back to his human form*
(Mike lays on the floor, unconscious. Darren smiles again. He tosses Davy two oranges.)
Darren: Here you go, David. Enjoy. Give the other one to Micky. Go help him with his car.
Davy: Okay, thanks! *heads off to help Micky with the car*
Darren: (Leans next to Michael) We're going to have a chat, Michael, and this is the only way I'll get you to do it. (He concentrates. Mike lifts into the air and comes to rest on a table) Now, Michael, why don't you tell me about your troubles? (Leans closer to his ear) I'm not going to hurt you. I'm going to help you. I'm going to show you (small grin) some magic.
