*We begin in the nightclub of the Caprice. Emma sits at one of the booths. She glances across at a table surrounded by Demons and makes a face. The demons all wave when they see her looking at them.*
Emma: This is NOT my ideal nightclub crowd. Worst service I ever had...and the ugliest, too.
*The back door to the nightclub opens & Alex strides in, carrying Lauren. He brings the still-out-of-it Lauren to Emma's booth.*
Alex: Brought ya some company.
Emma: Lauren! Alex, what did you do to her? (Emma immediately goes to her friend's side)
Alex: *grins* Wouldn't you like to know? She'll come around shortly. *pauses* So, how have the demons been treating you?
*Lauren slumps onto Emma's shoulder, muttering softly and unintelligibly.*
Emma: (Glares at Alex) Yes, I would like to know! She looks terrible! (Grumbles) And the demons are a pain. They smell bad, they look ugly, and they don't cook your meat all the way.
Alex: *leans down on the table, very close to them* Are SURE you really want to know what happened? *waggles his eyebrows*
Emma: Let me rephrase. What did you give her?
Alex: A medium sedative. Like I said, she'll come around shortly. In the meantime, *straightens up and folds his arms* I have some other business to take care of.
Emma: Keep your devil hands off our children and our husbands.
Alex: Neither of those, actually. I'm sure you've noticed the mist in here is quite hungry. It needs to be fed...often. And it's due for a feeding.
Emma: You're going to ENCOURAGE it?
Alex: *rolls his eyes* I'd like to keep it from eating ME, you know. *grins again* I'm gonna have a little fun, then give it a good feeding. That way, everybody's happy.
Emma: Alex, do you remember what the mist did in the Hotel California? It almost ate US! Whatever black magic Swanford was practicing in his hotels isn't messing around!
Alex: yes, I remember that. Why do you think I LIKE it?
Emma: Alex, this mist is dangerous! We don't know what it could do! What if it decides to do something else besides eat?
Alex: *shrugs* Do I look worried? Anyway, I have some other things to take care of. *He leaves the nightclub.*
Emma: He's gonna be worried when this damn building decides it's tired of messing around and just gulps all of us in one swallow! (She turns to her best friend) Lauren, are you ok? Lauren?
Lauren: *groans* Anyone get the number of that truck? *opens her eyes* Em?
Emma: Lauren! What happened? Alex stuck me here in the nightclub with a gaggle of Sheila's ugly boys. I have no idea where the kids are, and Alex wouldn't tell me.
Lauren: *sits up and pauses, thinking* Umm... *makes a face* I don't remember. Last thing I remember, we were still at the house.
Emma: You don't? Anything? It's been at least twenty minutes!
Lauren: *shakes her head* Nothing.
Emma: Great. I guess you wouldn't have your communicator. They took mine when they locked me in here.
Lauren: *checks her wrist; it's bare* They must've took mine. I've got skin time.
Emma: Maybe it's time we got Micky to give the communicators a different shape or find another place to put them. We keep losing them.
Lauren: *nods* Yeah. *puts a hand to her head* Ugh. My head is swimming. Em, can you tell the room to stop, so I can get off? *leans forward on the table*
Emma: (Puts an arm around Lauren) Just sit down here with me. We'll figure something out. Maybe we could get the demons to bring you something for your head. Make SOME decent use of them.
Lauren: *snorts* Good luck. :P
Emma: (Calls to the demons) Hey there! Could we have some service here? This woman needs a drink and some aspirin!
*One of the demons blows a razz at Emma. Another demon elbows the one that gave the razz and gets up.*
Demon: *grins* For you two cuties, I'll getcha something.
Emma: (Smiles) Thank you. (When the demon turns away, Emma turns to Lauren and makes a face)
*Lauren just frowns, rubbing at her own head.*
Demon: *returns with a tray* Here's some water and tea. We don't have aspirin.
Emma: That'll be fine. Thank you, sir. (She turns to Lauren and hands her the cup with the tea) Here, sweetie. Drink this. It might help your head a little.
Lauren: *takes a sip* Hot...but it's good. *groans again* I wonder what I'm not remembering.
Emma: It must be something huge, or Alex wouldn't have erased your memory.
Lauren: Then it couldn't be what he usually does.*makes a face* He likes me to remember THAT.
Emma: (Frowns) If it's not about sex...what is he after?
Lauren: I have no idea. *takes another sip of tea*
*We fade out as Emma comfortingly pats Lauren's back. We fade in on Alex in another room, already in the process of having fun. The mist swirls around them, enveloping them. Alex gets up, the camera following him. There's a slurping sound. When he returns, his "friend" is gone. The mist burps.*
Alex: *makes a face; to the mist* What part of "I'll feed you when I'm done" didn't you understand?
*The mist swirls around Alex. His eyes dart around before he finally runs out of the room. The camera follows Alex as he stops down the hall clad only in his shorts. He slams a door open.*
Alex: Milady! The damn mist ate another of my victims BEFORE I could have my fun!
Sheila: (Looks up from her desk; raises an eyebrow at his shorts) Allow me to say "I told you so."
*Zelda watches from the other side of the room. She's clearly checking him out.*
Alex: *rolls his eyes* Fine, fine, yes, you told me so.
Sheila: Alex, this hotel is dangerous, and it's out of control. How many people will we have to "feed" it before it's satisfied?
Alex: I don't know, all right? I was wr... *makes a face* So I was wr...I can't say it.
Sheila: (Sighs) Well, we now have to figure out how to get rid of the mist - and Swanford's influence on this building - without losing the building or anyone else.
Zelda: I wonder if it's even possible. The mist doesn't seem like it would want to leave.
Alex: It has to be possible! The Savage and the Knight managed to get rid of the mist and all the dimensions at the California!
Sheila: I now regret our hasty exit from the California. We should have stuck around and asked them how they did that. When we went back, it was just an ordinary hotel, no mists or dimensions, ours OR the ones that came with the hotel.
Alex: *glances at Zelda* You wouldn't happen to have some idea of how they did that, do you?
Zelda: *shakes her head* Nope.
Sheila: I hate to say this, but for the first time...I really don't know what to do. I have no idea what Swanford did to this hotel to make it the way it is now, though I think I have some ideas.
Alex: Great. So now what?
Sheila: We need help.
Alex *eyes widen* Help? You don't mean...
Sheila: (Nods) I do. (Frowns at Zelda) Is that the clone? You finally did it?
*Zelda quirks an eyebrow.*
Alex: *grins and slings an arm around her* This is her. Sheila, this is Zelda. Zelda, Sheila.
Sheila: Charmed, dear.
Zelda: *nods* Nice to meet you. *her eyes still roam up and down Alex*
Sheila: Dear, I'm afraid we're going to have to send you home. We have plans for you, and we don't want the Guardians knowing about your presence just yet.
Alex: *nods* Milady's right. We want your introduction to be VERY special.
Zelda: *sighs* All right, I'll go. *grins as Alex suddenly jumps*
Alex: But does she have to leave right at this moment?
Sheila: (Sighs) Yes. We want to keep her a secret for now.
Alex: Damn. *turns to Zelda* Sorry, babe. Keep that thought in mind for later.
Zelda: You bet. ;)
*A black light envelopes Zelda & she disappears.*
Alex: Buzzkill. A few more minutes wouldn't have spoiled the surprise.
Sheila: We need their help, and we need it... (eyes widen as she spots something wispy and white coming out of the ventilator in the corner) NOW!
Alex: What the... *black lights himself back into his usual all-black t-shirt and jeans*
Sheila: We have to get out of here!
Alex: Now!
Sheila: We'll have to come back for the others. We'll go to the parking lot first. I wouldn't be surprised if they already know the Mother and the Scholar are missing. If they aren't there, we'll IMAGINE them there!
Alex: *nods* Right.
(There's a black light, and we fade out on the devils and the room. Fade in on the ballroom. The kids huddle under a table. Leah sleeps in a bassinet on the bandstand.)
Katie: (Groans) "We've tried everything! The doors and the windows won't open, an' we can't do the blue light thingie in here!"
Jordan: "We'll never get out of here!"
Little Mick: "Yes we will! We just haven't found out how yet."
Katie: "I'm so mad! I don't wanna be here! That bad man might be hurting our mamas!" (She kicks a chair for emphasis.)
Jordan: "Where ARE we?"
Shelly: *shakes her head* "I don't know, but our parents ARE nearby!"
Little Mick: *nods* "Yeah! They'll come and get us.*
Katie: "I hope so! There's a bandstand, and that big light up there is really pretty, but I don't wanna be here! I wanna be home, so I can practice my ropin' and be like Wonder Woman!"
Jordan: "I don't wanna be here, either! The housie doesn't like us! It's so sad and angry! It just wants everyone to go away!"
Katie: "How can a house be angry? This house isn't like us!"
Jordan: "It is! I can tell!"
Little Mick: *frowns* "We have to get out of here. I feel funny."
Shelly: "Me too. I don't like it here. Wanna go home."
Jordan: "Me three!"
Katie: "And me." (Frowns) "Hey, where's Lizzie? I hope she didn't wander away! This is a big room! She could get lost."
Leah: *Pokes her head out of the bassinet* "What's going on, and why do I feel so crummy?"
Katie: "We're in some big room in a house that Jordan says is mad, an' Lizzie's gone!"
Jordan: "It is! It wants to eat lotsa people an' make them all go away, 'cause it thinks people doesn't like her!"
Katie: (Calls out) "Housie, we like you! We don't want you to eat us!"
Jordan: "Please don't be mad!"
Little Mick: "And how do we feel better!?"
Katie: (Runs around the room, calling) "Lizzie! Lizzie! Housie, please don't eat our friend Lizzie! She's too nice!"
Jordan: "Poor Lizzie!"
Shelly: "Where IS she?"
(That's when two demons emerge from the shadows across the room. One holds Lizzie under his arm.)
Katie: "Lizzie!"
Jordan: "A monster gots her!"
Katie: (Holds up her lasso) Meanie monster! Let her go!
Little Mick: "Let her go or else!"
Jordan: "She's only little!"
Katie: "She's our friend! Put her down!" (She runs up to the demons to attack them, but they just knock her down)
Demon 1: You just cub! You can't do nuthin'! Master wants this one (points to Jordan) an' Milady wants that one (indicates Lizzie).
Jordan: (Eyes fill with tears) "ME?" :o
Katie: (Throws her arms around Jordan) "No! I won't let you take him away! He's my best friend!"
Shelly: "Give us our friend back and leave us alone!"
Demon 2: Sorry, cub. We're followin' orders. (Pushes Katie away when she tries to kick them again)
Jordan: (He starts to pull away as the second demon reaches for him) "No! No! Help me!"
Katie: (Little growl) "NOOO!" (There's a blue light around Katie. When it subsides, a little wolf cub stands in her place. It runs right at the demon reaching for Jordan and bites it in the leg as hard as she can!)
Jordan: (Pulls away as the demon screams and lets go) "Katie!"
*The twins watch wide-eyed.*
(Katie bites the other one holding Lizzie. He drops her on the floor. They both run for the open door and leave it open. White wisps float through the door. There's the sound of screaming and munching, then all is silent again.)
Little Mick: "What was that?"
Jordan: (He and the twins go to Lizzie) "Lizzie? You ok?"
(The little wolf cub trots over and nuzzles Lizzie with her nose to check her.)
Lizzie: *laughs* "That tickles!"
Jordan: "Thank you, doggie! (Frowns) You aren't gonna eat us, are you?"
(The wolf shakes it's head and settles down by Jordan. There's a light around her again, and when it subsides, a panting, wide-eyed Katie sits next to Peter.)
Jordan: "Katie! You...you...you were the doggie?"
Katie: "I don't know what happened! I just got so MAD...and then I felt sorta fuzzy!"
*Lizzie wanders over and hugs Katie.*
(Katie blushes, but she does hug Lizzie back.)
Katie: "I don't know what happened! I just didn't want them to take you and Jordan away!"
Jordan: (Also hugs Katie) "You saved me, too! Thank you!"
*The twins clap, grinning.*
Leah: "Yay!" :D
Katie: "You know...I wonder if we should tell our mamas and papas about this?"
Jordan: "What, the doggie thing?"
Little Mick: "I don't know if they'd like it."
Jordan: "What if they think Katie's a doggie and try to take her away?"
Katie: "I don't want to be taken away!"
Jordan: "We can't let the grown-ups know Katie can be a doggie!"
Katie: (Turns to the others) "This will have to be a secret. No one can tell any of the grown-ups. I don't want to be taken away. I'm not a doggie! Not really, anyway."
Little Mick and Shelly: "We promise!"
Leah: *yawns* "Me too!"
Jordan: "And me! I don't want people to hurt my best friend!"(Nudges a sleepy Lizzie.)
Lizzie: *also yawns* "Promise."
Katie: "Ok!" (She points at the open door) "Hey look, they left that open for us!"
Jordan: (Sees the mist) "I don't know, Katie. I don't like that white stuff. I think it did something to the monsters!"
Katie: "If it did something to the monsters, I like it!"
Little Mick: *grins* "I like it, too!" ;)
Katie: "I know!" (She ducks down, UNDER the mist) "Let's be like Lizzie and Leah! Let's crawl! That way, the white stuff won't see us!"
Shelly: "Sneaky. I like it!"
Jordan: (Joins Katie on all fours) "Ok!" (Turns to Lizzie) "Come on! You can sleep later, when we find Auntie Emma and Auntie Lauren."
Lizzie: "Okay!"
Leah: "We go now!" :)
(All the kids crawl out of the ballroom, going right under the mist.)
(Fade out on the kids; fade in on the parking lot, where we see Rosemarie and Ursula discreetly in the background. Sheila and Alex appear in a black light.)
Sheila: (Looks behind her) There's their cars...but where are they? They must be around here SOMEWHERE if the cars are there!
Alex: Knowing them, they could be anywhere.
Sheila: Damn it! Why did they have to choose now to hide themselves?
Alex: Because they're annoying like that.
Sheila: I hope they aren't already inside. How could they have gotten in if... (She looks up at the roof; her eyes widen, and she tugs at Alex's sleeve) Alex?
Alex: What? *follows her gaze* What the hell?
(Two dark figures with flapping capes silhouetted against the waning daylight leap nimbly across the roof of the Caprice.)
Alex: *sighs* Well, there's two of them.
Sheila: And where there's two of them, the others are sure to follow. (Looks at Alex) How do you handle heights?
Alex: Better than flying, at least.
Sheila: (Ignores his annoyed looks) Great. Come on! (They black-light away. Cut to the roof. We see the dark silhouettes as they hurry across the roof, leaping nimbly around ladders and other construction. One silhouette finally trips...and flies right into the camera!)
Valerie: (We get a very extreme close up on her as she topples to the roof; both she and Daphne are still in MonkeeWoman uniforms) Damn it, who left these shingles here?
Daphne: *frowns as she helps Valerie up* I don't know, but they should know better than to leave things where someone running on a roof could trip over them.
Valerie: We should almost be at the top luxury suites. We'll get in there, then look for the devils and that private library of Swanford's. (Frowns) I'm wondering just what he did to this place...and if it has anything to do with those missing movie executive's wives.
(As the ladies turn around, there's a black light...and Sheila and Alex appear.)
Daphne: *groans* Oh great.
Valerie: How do you two always know where to find us?
Sheila: In this case, we got lucky.
Alex: What are you doing up here, anyway?
Daphne: Going for a little rooftop jog?
Valerie: As you so love to say, Alex, that's for US to know and YOU to find out!
*Alex narrows his eyes.*
Daphne: What are you two doing up here, other than bothering us?
Sheila: Where are the others?
Daphne: It's just us here.
Valerie: Are you two going to tell us what you're up to (saunters over to Alex) or are we going to have to get it out of him the hard way?
*Alex sticks his tongue out.*
Sheila: We need ALL of you. It's important.
Daphne: What could possibly be so important?
Valerie: That doesn't involve either of you getting your kicks on top of us?
Sheila: We need h...h...
Valerie: If you need Hell, you can go home.
Alex: Not hell, *rolls his eyes* he... *closes his eyes & sucks in a noisy breath* help.
Daphne: Help? For what?
Sheila: We need to get rid of the mist in this building. It's eating everything in sight.
Daphne: We heard about that.
Sheila: No one will be able to do anything with this building unless we can somehow get rid of that damn mist and whatever Swanford did to it to get it like this!
Valerie: Why are you coming to us about this now?
Sheila: (Looks at Alex) Someone didn't want to before.
Alex: I THOUGHT I could handle it, okay?
Valerie: Instead of leveling accusations, why don't we get inside and see what we can do about that mist?
Sheila: (Stops her) There's one more thing. There's other people in the hotel besides us and your husbands. (Big breath; then) The Mother, the Scholar, and your children are in the ballroom and the nightclub. They're practically the only places with no mist left now.
Valerie: WHAT!? You BITCH! What did you do to them? What did you do to my SON!?(She lunges for Sheila...almost knocking both of them off the roof!)
Daphne: So help us, if ANY of them are HURT...
Alex: *puts both hands up* They're all fine, but we'll have to get them OUT and it's getting tougher to get THROUGH the building to get to those rooms.
Sheila: (As Valerie reaches for her neck) Aristocrat, if you kill me now, you'll never find your precious son!
Valerie: (Barely restraining herself; pulls back) Fine, Sheila. You lead us to Em, Lauren, and the children. (Snarls) Or else.
Sheila: I don't seem to have much of a choice now. (She puts out an arm) After you, Aristocrat.
(Valerie tosses her head and leads the four across the roof as the scene fades out.)
