“So, what do you think?” Larry asked, looking hopeful and just a little pitiful.

Balki, Mary Anne, and Jennifer exchanged looks.

“I think we’re insane to even be considering taking this vacation,” Jennifer commented, “even though it does sound like fun.”

“I wish there wasn’t so much traveling involved,” Mary Anne said.

Jennifer glanced at her. “We’re flight attendants, we travel all the time.”

“Oh, right, I always forget that,” Mary Anne said.

“What about you, Balki?” Larry asked, his brow arching.

“Well...” Balki began, and Larry began looking like he would hyperventilate. “I always wanted to try surfing.”

“And you can!” Larry said, excitedly. “We’ll be at the beach for four days. Plenty of time for surfing!”

“I’m in,” Balki said, grinning.

“Ladies?” Larry turned a pitiful look to them.

“I’ll go,” Mary Anne agreed.

Jennifer looked at her, then sighed. “Why am I doing this? Okay, I’ll go, but if anything goes wrong, Larry...”

“I’ve thought everything through. I promise, nothing can go wrong,” he said.

Two days later, at the hotel...

“See that? Nice hotel rooms, didn’t have to wait long during traveling, still have all our luggage...” Larry said, leaning in the doorway adjoining the rooms.

Jennifer got up from her chair and joined him. “I don’t know how you managed it,” she smiled, “but I’m happily surprised that nothing has gone wrong.”

“Nothing can go wrong,” Larry said, moving closer.

“Cousin!”

“Except for maybe Balki jumping on the bed.” Larry turned back to his room. “Balki, you’re going to break the bed. Stop jumping on it.” He paused. “I thought you were going to try surfing?”

Balki stopped jumping and laded, taking a seat on the bed. “That was two days ago. I want to go boating now!”

Larry looked like he was going to make some comment, but then seemed to consider the idea. “You know, that isn’t a bad idea.”

“Sounds fun,” Mary Anne agreed, joining Balki and wrapping an arm around him.

“Sounds romantic,” Jennifer corrected, giving Larry a look.

Seeing the look, his brow arched. “Let’s go, now,” Larry said, quickly.

A few hours later...

“Isn’t this nice?” Larry asked.

“Wonderful,” Jennifer agreed, leaning into him, and Larry looked like he was in Heaven.

“Cousin, when can I try?” Balki asked.

“A little while,” Larry answered, shortly, trying not to let his moment get away.

Mary Anne looked around. “Shouldn’t we still be able to see land?”

“Well...” Larry looked around, then swallowed hard, “...yes?”

Jennifer sat up, moving away from him. “Larry.”

“We’re lost,” Balki stated.

“We aren’t lost. We’re just... a little further out on the water,” Larry said. “We can’t be lost. If we just... finish circling around, we’ll see land in no time.”

“Are you sure?” Jennifer asked, turning to look at him.

Larry frowned. “We’ll find out.”

About a half an hour later...

Larry had his head propped up in his hands, keeping watch for land, while the others fell asleep, which he was getting close to. Suddenly, his head shot up, as he spotted something and squinted ahead of them... his brow arched and his eyes went wide as he realized the boat was closing in quickly on some rocks. “Wake up...!” he managed before they hit.

The impact rolled the others around, since they were sprawled out on the floor, waking them, but since Larry had kept watch, he was sitting up and the closest to the front, where the boat struck. He fell out over the side.

“Cousin!” Balki called out. “Wait for us!”

“...And the boat’s sinking,” Mary Anne announced.

“Everyone out,” Jennifer said, and the three of them jumped into the water and swam for shore.

They reached the shore, assuming they would catch up with Larry. They looked out in time to see the boat go completely under.

“So much for nothing going wrong,” Jennifer commented.

“This doesn’t look like the island we should be on,” Mary Anne said.

Balki looked out over the water, then toward the beach. He turned to the girls. “I do’n see Cousin Larry.”

“He’s... got to be here somewhere,” Jennifer stammered.

“Maybe he’s farther down that way and he found the beach,” Mary Anne suggested, pointing toward the beach. They began moving in that direction.

They reached the beach in ten minute and spread out, Balki moving to the edge of the shore and walking the edge.

The girls held back and looked in towards the palm trees. “Jennifer, where do you think he could’ve gotten to?” Mary Anne asked, quietly.

She shook her head. “I don’t know, but I wish we’d find him and soon.” She turned away and added quietly, to herself, “You said nothing would go wrong.”
