Everyone ready to finish this one off?

Mike: Actually, no. I haven't had this much fun with a story for a long time. ;)

Peter: I am! I almost lost Val! :o

Micky: It was kinda fun! ;)

Davy: For once, I 'ave to agree with Mick.

Micky: Ah HA! :D ;)

(Mike and Peter laugh at Micky's expression.)

(We open with a romp in Micky and Lauren's backyard, "Saturday's Child." The adults all wear their outfits from their 50s trip. Katie wears a little white blouse and a yellow skirt with a sequin poodle on it, her loose dark brown curls in pigtails with yellow ribbons. She wears a pair of sneakers - the better to chase the twins around in! Jordan, in a pair of jeans and a letter sweater, trails behind.)

(Lizzie, wearing a little red dress with a flared skirt and mary-janes, tries to follow, but she's still unsteady and falls back down on her blanket. She opts to clap instead.)

(Mike keeps an eye on Micky and the grill, a lethal combination.)

*The twins wear rolled-up jeans and sweaters. Shelly has a red scarf tied into her hair.*

(Davy and Daphne dance. Valerie and Emma bring food to the tables. Peter goes to Shelly and tells her he doesn't have anyone to dance with, so may I have this dance, Miss Michelle Dolenz?)

*Shelly nods, grinning, and holds her arms out to him.*

(Peter picks up Shelly and swings her around and around in time to the music!)

(Davy finally goes up to Katie. Would Miss Katherine Nesmith like to dance? Katie's thrilled when Davy twists with her!)

*Lauren offers to dance with Jordan. She kneels down to match his height.*

(Jordan blushes and grins shyly. No grown-up lady besides his mommy ever wanted to dance with him!)

*Daphne goes to Little Mick and offers to dance. She spins him around and around and around...* ;)

(Mike raises his eyebrows at the fluid Micky's using for the grill. That's not something you get from a store.)

*Micky grins. It's his own special concoction.*

(Mike grabs it and takes it around to the garage. He doesn't want Micky blowing up their party or their families.)

*Micky growls and yells for Mike to come back! He can't leave the grill, and he's used that fluid before!*

(Emma asks Mike to come help her with a heavy bowl of macaroni salad.)

*Once Mike goes to help Emma, Micky imagines the fluid back. He smirks, chuckling evilly to himself.*

(Emma drags Mike out to the backyard to dance with her, a bit slower than the kids.)

(Katie climbs into a big appliance box overturned in the backyard when the grown-ups go to set up their dinner. She beckons the other kids to come with her. They're going to pretend they're driving around Malibu Beach in the 50s!)

(The twins and Jordan run over and climb in, Jordan with a little help. Katie and Mick are fighting over who gets to drive when there's a tug on the box. Lizzie wants to play too, but she can't climb in! :p)

(They finally get Lizzie in. Jordan helps her up to the front. Why doesn't Lizzie drive?)

*Micky's flipping burgers, rotating hot dogs, and grilling veggies like a pro. He turns, whistling, then grins and waves when he catches Mike's eye.*

(Mike growls, makes a face, and snitches a finished burger when Micky's back is turned.)

(Emma beams as she brings out the last of the food - a huge salad in a bowl that could swallow continents. Mike yells over the music "Chow's on!")

(The kids all jump out of the box at once and race over to the food. Lizzie tries to crawl after them, but her mother finally picks her up and puts her in a playpen with Leah, who's watched the whole romp with wide eyes.)

*Micky performs a display of flipping the finished food items neatly stacked onto trays. He grins.*

(Mike just rolls his eyes. Could we have some food over here please, Mr. Show-Off?)

*Micky nods, salutes, and then smirks as he tosses a hamburger toward Mike. The burger lands smack on his head.*

(Everyone bursts into laughter, even the kids. Mike picks the hamburger off of his head and glares at Mick as the music ends and we fade out on the barbecue.)

(We cut to inside the house. Mike comes downstairs from cleaning hamburger juice off his head. Emma and Lauren set up small bowls of multi-colored sprinkles, crushed cookies and nuts, and cherries. A steaming bowl of hot fudge sauce is surrounded by smaller jars of butterscotch and chocolate sauce and marshmallow fluff. Valerie brings a bowl of real, home-made whipped cream. Daphne and Davy prepare cartons of ice cream.)

Bob: Boy, looks like some people are going to have a sugar feast.

Katie: Oh boy! Ice cream! :D

Emma: I thought the kids would like to make their own malt shop sundaes for dessert. That's a part of the 50s they can get into.

Mike: Don't eat the whole table, Mick. Leave a few things for the kiddies.

Peter: (As he brings strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry syrup) Yeah! ;)

Micky: Alright, alright.

Bert: Speaking of the malt shop, when did you guys get back in?

Mike: After the sun came up an' we were questioned. It was really too gorgeous to leave right away.

Emma: I'm glad we stayed for the sunrise. It was a beautiful end to a wild ride.

Bert: How are you boys feeling? You really got put through the ringer during those last few parts.

Mike: Actually, I'm feelin' pretty nice.

Emma: Especially now that he's had a shower.

Bert: You would feel nice, Mike. You were the one who knocked Vince off his high-horse - or motorcycle - and brought the Cruiser out of hiding.

Mike: Yeah. It's all good.

Emma: My hero and his huge ego. (Gives Mike a kiss on the cheek)

Mike: Yeah, well, I ain't had the chance to play hero for a while.

Emma: And you won't for a while after this, either. (Looks at Lauren) Lauren's in charge of our next two stories.

Peter: (Looks at Lauren) You are?

Micky: Oh no...

Lauren: *nods, grinning* Yup. And the second one's a newer idea, too.

Emma: (Nods) In fact, we're moving the story listed at the Arc 9 Index at our site for August, "The Great Big Slumber," to January and are doing Lauren's new idea in August. It's just too delicious of an idea to wait until next year for.

Mike: Why not next month, if you're so hot on the idea?

Emma: We've REALLY been looking forward to next month, for at least six months now.

Lauren: We've waited for next month's long enough. The new idea can wait the one month.

Micky: I'm in BIIIIIIIIG trouble!

Mike: Man, my wolf instinct is actin' up already. These are both goin' to be those nasty-evil stories you guys like to torture us with every now n' then, ain't they?

Lauren: You betcha. ;)

Emma: But torture's so much FUN! ;)

Mike: Yeah, but not for us!

Micky: This does NOT bode well for me at all. :P

Peter: This won't interfere with our vacation next month, will it?

Emma: For the most part, no.

Mike: (As he spoons whipped cream and hot fudge sauce onto rocky road ice cream) I don't like the sound of any of this.

Bob: To lighten the mood a bit, what was your favorite part of this story?

Emma: Lover's Lane.

Peter: Dancing at the malt shop!

Micky: The cars, and Lovers' Lane.

Mike: Beatin' that asshole Vince at his own game.

Lauren: Seeing Mick with his curls plastered down.

Mike: (Chuckles and plays with Micky's hair) It does look kinda interestin' like this. ;)

*Micky mutters and pats his hair back down, or tries to.*

Peter: Val went out to get more ice cream. I asked her that question earlier, and she said she liked running around the drive-in the best. Apparently, it's gotten a bit run-down in the past few years, and she enjoyed seeing it when it was still pretty new.

Davy: Lovers' Lane was great, and I kinda liked the prank calls. ;)

Daphne: Those jokes were awful, Davy!

Mike: Yeah, I'll bet teenagers in togas made those prank calls into people's windows.

Bert: Hey everyone, what kind of sundae are you making?

Katie: I want cookies! (Her chocolate ice cream is drowning in chocolate syrup and crushed Oreos)

Peter: I'm just having tutti-fruitti and whipped cream.

Micky: Some of everything.

Lauren: *rolls her eyes* Vanilla with a little chocolate syrup.

Daphne: Chocolate with whipped cream & cherries.

Emma: Well, let's see, I have vanilla, rocky road, and butter pecan ice cream topped with chocolate syrup, raspberry syrup, sprinkles, and crushed nuts, oh, and fluff!

Mike: (Rolls his eyes) She's been cravin' nuts. I'm afraid of what our kid's gonna be like.

(Emma elbows him.)

Davy: Chocolate and vanilla with whipped cream and nuts.

Jordan: Vaniller an' hot fudge!

Mike: Lizzie and Leah just have vanilla. Right, little cowgirls? (He ruffles Leah's hair.)

Little Mick: Lots of chocolate! :D

Shelly: Vanilla for me. :)

Bert: Hey, why did you bring Ursula along on this one? This is the first time she's taken part in your time-traveling adventures.

Mike: Well, there was her not ever gettin' to join us on these things. I think she gets to feelin' left out sometimes. (Shrugs) And this was the first time on these time travelin' jaunts when we really needed transportation beyond the trolley.

Emma: I think Ursula fell for Susie's car! It was so sweet. She was sighing and moping for days after that. I'll bet that was the first time in 500 years she ever had a crush on anyone...even a car.

Bob: Whatever happened to Susie, anyway? Did anyone ever find out who "The Cruiser" was?

Mike: If they did, they didn't find out from us. There ain't no way we're gonna ruin a perfectly good urban legend.

Emma: I thought I recognized her! She worked at Cardelli's when you were there, didn't she?

Mike: (Nods) Last I heard, she was gonna take over the business when her old man retires in a year or two. Married a man who's as car-crazy as she is, and her brothers are gonna help out while they're in college and finishin' high school. (Chuckles) She has two kids now, both boys, but she's still a tough little thing...and can make a car purr almost as well as her dad.

Bert: Where did you get the idea for this one?

Emma: Actually, the idea of us traveling to the 50s goes as far back as 2005. It's another one of those interesting ideas that kept getting put off or backlogged as we'd come up with more interesting ideas we actually had stories for. I didn't get a real storyline for this until earlier this year. (Grins) Oh, and that reminds me, I'd like to thank members of the casts of "Laverne and Shirley," "Happy Days," and "American Graffiti," and the film version of "Grease" for their cameos.

Mike: (As he finishes his ice cream) Maybe we'd better sign off here, so the kids can finish in peace.

Emma: And you can sign us off for this one, baby. You earned it.

Mike: (Nods) Right. (To the camera) We at "Dream World" would like to wish all of our American readers a happy Father's Day and Fourth of July, and hope that the rest of you enjoy the summer months. Go take a drive on a gorgeous summer evening with the ones you love.

Emma: See you next month!

Micky: Goodbye! Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye!

(Mike rolls his eyes and puts a sticky arm around Micky as the others laugh and we fade out.)

(Cut to the end credits. "Looking For The Good Times" plays over stills of scenes from the "production." We end with the words "A Raybert Production" over a picture of all eight Monkees and MonkeeWomen in front of Ursula in their 50s costumes with Arnold's in the background.)
