Ok, NOW I'm ready to get on with our drag race! Who's with me? ;)

Mike: Me.

Peter: Not me! I'll go to the police. :o

Micky: ME! :D

Davy: Me, too.

(We open on the edge of Old Man Tanner's Field. It's nearly dawn; the first purple lights of morning are just starting to streak across the sky. The field is just that, a meadow filled with nothing but grass, rocks, and wildflowers, broken in two by the endless expanse of highway. The MonkeeMobile comes to a stop by the side of the road. Emma, Lauren, and Davy get out. The three boys are still a little grimy, but mostly look much cleaner than they did after the mud fight.)

Ursula: All right boys, we must talk. How are you so sure the Cruiser knows about this drag race, especially at this hour of the morning?

Mike: I think he (Emma glares) or she may have a confederate, someone who tells them when the drag races take place.

Emma: (Makes a face) Don't forget Urse, this is a small town, even smaller in 1959 before the new houses were built. Word travels fast in small towns.

Ursula: That leaves the matter of who is going to drive. I'd do it myself, but I don't think they had autopilot for cars in 1959.

Mike and Micky: (In unison) I'll drive!

Ursula: (Sighs) Boys, they have not yet invented a way for both of you to drive. One or the other do it, please!

Micky: I can do it!

Mike: I'll do it.

Micky: I want to do it!

Ursula: DECIDE! NOW!

Mike: Wanna shoot for it?

Micky: *Shrugs* Looks like it's the only way we'll decide.

*Micky and Mike shoot fingers. Mike wins.*

Micky: Guess you won, Mike. :P

(Mike nods and climbs into Ursula.)

Micky: *mutters, rejoining Lauren* He gave me a late finger... :P

Mike: While I'm in the race, I want you guys to keep an eye on the Wild Riders and make sure they don't interfere, with me OR the Cruiser.

(There's the sound of motorcycles. Everyone turns around as the Wild Riders park behind them. Valerie and Daphne remain, not happily, in the arms of the two gang members. The member who flirted with Lauren before eyes her; his girlfriend glares at him.)

Vince: (Parks next to the MonkeeMobile) You ready, punk?

Mike: Yeah, I'm ready.

Vince: No rules. Once down to the mile marker on the edge of the construction site and back. (Smirks) I can't wait to think of all the things I'm gonna do with your jalopy there. Could probably take the engine and scrap the rest.

Ursula: (Mutters) Why, you little brat... X(

Mike: (Narrows his eyes) Guess again, jackass.

Ursula: (Quietly, under the revving motors) Good luck, Michael. God speed!

Mike: Yeah, Urse. Thanks.

("Rip It Up" by Little Richard starts as Vince's girl gives the signal - her bright red polka-dot scarf - and both vehicles take off like a shot down Interstate 86!)

(The motorcycle tries to get close to the MonkeeMobile, but Mike manages to pull her away. Mike speeds ahead of the cycle, which doesn't sit too well with Vince. Mike's eyes widen when he sees Vince hold a knife to the rear of the MonkeeMobile when they get close!)

(Cut back to the group watching them. One of the Riders is trying to flirt with Lauren again. His girlfriend grabs his arm and chews him out, then chews LAUREN out!)

(Cut back to the race. Mike knocks Vince's hand away before he can do more than minor damage on Ursula, but it gives Vince the time he needs to speed ahead!)

*Cut back to the group. Lauren chews out the Riders!*

(The girl Rider gives Lauren a shove! Emma shakes her fist at the angry Rider girl, but Davy pulls Emma a discreet distance from the others.)

*Micky holds Lauren back.*

(Cut back to the race. Mike and Vince go around a corner. Vince is trying to get Mike off the road by throwing cans from a sack in the back of his cycle. Mike ducks him, but he's not really paying attention to where he's going and goes off-road...)

(Emma sees the race, screams at the top of her lungs, and runs across the field and construction site after them.)

(Cut back to the group at the other motorcycles. Davy, Micky, and Lauren face off against the remaining Wild Riders and their girls. The female Rider shoves Lauren again, this time almost sending her into one of the cycles.)

*Lauren dives at the female Rider, and the two go tumbling. Daphne and Valerie dive for Vince’s girl.*

(Davy nods at Micky. They play patty cake in front of two male Riders. When they finish, they aim for the two, but they duck and jump them!)

(Cut back to Mike. He almost hits a row of concrete tubes when a large black car comes out of nowhere and gently nudges the MonkeeMobile away from it! Mike's eyes widen when he sees the shadowy figure in a black watch cap, black sunglasses, and all-black clothes, their faces obscured behind their windows. Both cars return to the highway.)

(Emma gasps when the other car comes out of nowhere and still looks worried when both return to the highway.)

(Cut back to the cycles, which are joined by a familiar junky car. Benny jumps out of his car and joins Emma near the construction site. He looks just as worried as she does.)

(Vince's girl joins Benny and Emma after pulling away from Valerie and Daphne; she's genuinely worried, too.)

*Micky and Davy finally manage to get the other Riders tied up in tires. Lauren, Val, and Daphne joins them, dusting themselves off. She looks a bit worse for the wear, but the female Rider is worse off. She groans in the background, laid out next to the cycles.*

(Cut back to the race. Vince now tries to throw things at the Cruiser; he actually breaks one of their windows. The Cruiser speeds ahead; Vince goes after them. Mike follows behind, not really caring about the race anymore. He's now more curious than anything.)

Emma: (Over the music) What're they doing?

(All three vehicles skid and turn around. The Cruiser speeds ahead and cuts off the other two before they can reach the other cycles. Mike drives off the road and into the construction site, thankfully managing to bring the MonkeeMobile to a stop before it hits anything. Vince spins out and tumbles off his bike. The Cruiser goes to see if he's ok before Mike can...and Vince jumps the cruiser!)

(Emma, Benny, and Vince's girl catches up with them as the music ends and Vince and the Cruiser duke it out. Emma runs to Mike as he gets out of the car and embraces him.)

Emma: Oh...oh my god...Honey, I'm so glad you're ok...

Mike: I am too, darlin', but first, I wanna go make sure the Cruiser's ok. That's gotta be who that is!

(Micky, Davy, and Lauren catch up to them just in time to see Vince grab the Cruiser by their hat, pulling the hat off and revealing a shock of long, golden hair. He whips off the glasses to reveal a rather bruised and very angry Susie Cardelli.)

Vince: You? YOU? A...a...a broad?

Susie: (Growls) A girl.

Mike: Oh Susie...

Vince’s Girl: Oh wow! I know her! She was in three of my classes this year!

Vince: YOU'VE been doin' this? Why?

Susie: I've lost too many friends to these drag races, most of them instigated by you and your asshole buddies who think they own this town. You're such a spoiled jerk. You don't think of anyone else but you and your pals, do you? What about all the families, the people who lost friends and loved ones to those damn drag races and your challenges? What about all the kids who had to walk around with injuries, just because they went somewhere you were and you didn't like it?

Vince: Aw geez Suz, we're just havin' a little fun!

Susie: It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

Mike: I knew it was you, Suz. You would do this. You love cars, and you're good with the customers, too.

Vince: Well, little girl, you're with US now. We're gonna show you what happens when someone interferes on Wild Riders turf. (Nods) Hey boys...

Vince’s Girl: Um, Vince...

Vince: (Whistles) Guys...

Davy: Slight problem there.

Vince: Where ARE they?

Micky: They're a little tied up at the moment.

Vince: (As sirens are heard in the distance) Oh no. You guys ain't gonna get me that easily! (He takes off, followed by his girl.)

Micky: *points at the fleeing Riders* GET THEM!

*Micky, Lauren, Davy, Daphne, Val, Benny, and Susie run after them. There's a scuffle, complete with cartoon-ish dust, that envelopes the whole group, blocking the view of what's happening. When it clears, Vince and his girlfriend are stuck in tires.*

Susie: (Grins at the girls) Hey, you do nice work!

Benny: (Grins at the boys) You're not bad, either.

Mike: (He and Emma catch up; they laugh when they see them) Nice work, gang.

Emma: Where did you get the tires?

Micky: *shrugs* I spotted a pile of them at the construction site when I did my dare earlier & used Imagination Power.

Susie: (Shrugs) Thanks, everyone. I owe you one for helping me round these jerks and jerkettes up. You guys can turn them over to the cops. (Reaches for her hat, but Valerie takes it before she can)

Valerie: Susie, why don't you want anyone to know you're the Cruiser?

Susie: Who would believe a girl would be the great, amazing driver who stops drag races from being worse than they are? I'm a cheerleader, a softball player, and an honor student who works after school in her father's garage. (Shrugs) Yeah, I love cheerleading, and softball and yearbook are fun, too, but what I truly love is cars. I love the feel of the road, the wind in my hair, the sound of the engine when it turns over. Cars are in my blood.

Mike: Susie, you're doin' a great thing. Don't you want credit?

Susie: I get enough credit knowing I can be of some help to someone.

Benny: (Smiles) And I'm glad to know I can help her.

Mike: (Nods at Benny) So you're her second.

Benny: (Nods) I'd tell her whenever I heard about a drag race going on in town, and thanks to my deli job, I hear a lot of things.

Susie: The car's from my Dad's garage. It's about five or six different junkers put together. It took my brothers and I a long time to work on it, but it can do up to 80 in ten seconds, and I'm proud of her.

Mike: Can't say I blame you. Nice job.

Susie: (As we hear sirens in the distance) Please, everyone, promise me one very big thing. Don't tell anyone who I am, or that Benny's involved in this.

(Susie's car nudges Ursula, who nudges him back playfully.)

Mike: Sure, Susie, but why...

Susie: I'd never be able to do this if everyone knew some girl was the Cruiser! Not to mention my dad would ground me for the next hundred years! He doesn't want me to have anything to do with the drag races or the Wild Riders!

Mike: Don't worry, Suz. We're gonna be leavin' town after this, anyway.

(Ursula leans against Susie's car, who gives a slow purr.)

Susie: (Pulls the hat over her head as flashing lights are seen) Come on, Benny. We'd better go. (Smiles at them) Thanks again!

(She and Benny jump into Susie's car and take off...just as cop cars park next to the cycles, and Peter and the other kids pile out.)

Mike: (Waves; quietly) Thanks, Suz. For everythin'.

Peter: Val! Everyone! You're ok! (He grabs Valerie and hugs her as hard as he can)

Vince: (Blushes as the Chief of Police leans over him, glaring) Hi Dad.

Police Chief: I should have known. (Looks at the others) Just what went on here tonight?

Mike: Those, um, people (points at the Wild Riders) pushed us into a fight, then instigated a drag race.

Vince: No, we didn't!

Police Chief: That sounds like you, son. (Looks at the group) The rest of you are let go after questioning. (Glares at his son) Boy, you and I are going to have a very, VERY serious talk.

Vince: (Gulps; squeaks) Yes, Dad.

Mike: (Looks at the others as the cops question Ronnie and his friends) As soon as the cops question us, we're goin' home. We've had enough.

Peter: Mike, who was the Cruiser?

Mike: Just someone doin' somethin' good, Pete.

Peter: Huh?

Valerie: (Puts her arm around Peter's waist) We'll explain later, dear. For now, let's go home.

Emma: (Leans into Mike as they all climb into Ursula) Yeah.

Daphne: (Grins) Have you ever seen a more beautiful sunrise?

Ursula: (As the sun continues to creep over the highway, showing the beautiful field in a panoramic shot; sighs dreamily) Not in a million years, Daphne. Or even a hundred.

Emma: (Leans into Mike) It's so nice to be in love.

Peter: (Kisses Valerie on her nose) You said it!

Micky: It's absolutely gorgeous. :)

Lauren: You said it, Mick. :)

(The last shot is of the MonkeeMobile, the boys and girls, and the cops leading the Wild Riders to squad cars as the sun slowly rises, leaving everything golden...including the endless stretch of Interstate 86.)
