Everyone ready for a tropical vacation?

Mike: Please.

Peter: This will be wonderful!

Micky: Ready.

Davy: I can't wait.

(We open with a view of Coconut Island, the tropical resort last seen in "Weekend at the Demon's." The camera cuts to the front of a huge pastel hotel, where we see the MonkeeMobile, Lauren's Chevy Bel Air, and Rosemarie pull up to the front vestibule. Cut to inside. The lobby is done in soft pastels, with lots of potted palms and tropical flowers everywhere. The Monkees and their wives, all in summer clothing, follow several busboys who carry suitcases.)

Mike: (Grins) Now this is livin'. Thanks for gettin' those guys to carry our stuff, Val.

Valerie: What's money for?

Peter: I wish we could have spent more time here last Memorial Day. This hotel is really cool!

Emma: I like it. Very modern-tropical.

Micky: I'm just glad we aren't lugging a dead guy this time.

Mike: No kiddin'. I'm really lookin' forward to a quiet trip this time.

Emma: A really quiet trip. We need it.

Davy: Absolutely.

Peter: (Nods) You bet. I'm just glad Val's dad took our boys, Katie, and Robbie. Katie has school, and we need time away from them, too, as much as I love our boys.

Mike: How about your rugrats, Mick? Your mom took 'em?

Micky: Yup, as usual. She loves watching them.

Mike: Lizzie too?

Daphne: *Nods* She and Leah get along so well, and the twins enjoy having her around.

Peter: I'm glad the kids have so many people to look after them, especially since most of their grandparents don't live near-by. It really comes in handy.

Mike: The kids like it, too. More people to give 'em stuff at holidays.

Valerie: (As they arrive at the front desk, which is made of teak; the front desk clerk wears good khakis with a Hawaiian shirt) I'm looking forward to nothing but fun, sun, and working on my tan...and no Headquarters business.

Desk Clerk: (A young man with dark hair turns to greet them) Hello, ma'am. May I help you?

Valerie: (Nods) I'm Mrs. Valerie Thorkleson, and I have a reservation for four rooms.

Desk Clerk: (Smiles when he sees Valerie) Yes, Mrs. Thorkleson. (Hands her the keys; she gives three sets of keys to Peter to hand out) We hope you have a very pleasant stay here, Mrs. Thorkleson. Dinner is in the Hawaii House at 6PM, and then the floor show, if you're interested.

Micky: Floor show? Definitely.

Valerie: We'd be delighted, sir.

Desk Clerk: There's booklets on the many fine attractions on Coconut Island in each of your rooms, along with complimentary drinks. (Smiles) Thank you again, Mrs. Thorkleson.

Valerie: (Graciously) You're very welcome. Your establishment received a very high rating in Fodor's Guide. I hope it lives up to its reputation.

Desk Clerk: We'll do everything we can to make sure it does.

Peter: (As they leave the desk, the suitcases now on a rack that a bus boy pushes) Valerie, how did you do that?

Valerie: Money talks, dear.

Mike: I don't care if it starts speakin' Chinese if it can get us decent treatment and free drinks.

Valerie: (As they follow the young man back outside and across a pathway around several huge buildings that looks like 50s Doo-Wop crossed with Polynesian) This hotel is supposedly the best on Coconut Island. It' has a spa, one indoor and two outdoor pools, it's own marina for guests who arrive by boat, a gym, two restaurants, a coffee shop, two bars, tennis courts, and a shopping area.

Micky: I've got dibs on the tennis court!

Davy: *Shrugs* Perhaps I'm a glutton for punishment, but I'll play you, Mick.

Peter: I'll join you.

Mike: Not me! I'll be in the pool or on the beach with Em.

Lauren: I'll be enjoying the spa, while I can still relax.

Emma: How's your little one feeling, Lauren?

Mike: You're due pretty soon, ain't ya?

Lauren: *Nods* In a few weeks. I'm feeling good. The little one seems pretty content. They must take more after me than Mick.

Emma: Or your insides would be black and blue. (As they pull back from the others) Is Mick still driving you crazy?

Lauren: Not as badly as before, thankfully. I finally told him that if I needed his help I'd ask for it.

Emma: He finally got the message, huh?

Lauren: He sure did.

Emma: Did you have to pound it into him?

Lauren: Amazingly enough, threats were plenty.

Emma: For all his temper, Micky is a pussycat when you come down to it.

Lauren: Yup.

Valerie: Here it is. (She opens the door to one of the smaller Tiki-like buildings. The hallway they enter is similar to the lobby inside, done in pastels with potted tropical plants and palms everywhere) We're all across the hall from each other. Mike, Emma, Peter, and I are on this side. (Points to her right) The rest of you are on your left. (Looks at her watch) Why don't we all settle in, then meet each other for a walk around the resort before dinner?

Emma: That sounds great, Val!

Mike: We've been in cars and ferries all day. I sure could use a stretch before dinner.

Micky: See ya in a few, then.

Peter: (Nods) We'll meet you later!

*We follow Micky and Lauren into their room.*

Lauren: Wow, this is nice!

Micky: Yeah. (He flops on the floral-upholstered couch and sinks into it) Ahh, this feels nice.

Lauren: *Looks out the window* Great view, too.

Micky: (Looks up) Good ol' Val. She made sure to get us rooms with a view of the ocean.

(The room is a large-sized square with large beds, a closet, and a dresser on one side, a couch, chairs, and a TV on the other. All of the furniture is made of teak. The bedding is done in the same floral design as the upholstery. The floors are covered with soft pink carpeting.)

Micky: (Looks up at a sink and small refrigerator; there's a pail of ice and what looks like a bottle and glasses on a tray) Hey Lauren, those must be our complimentary drinks. I wonder how much Val paid through the nose to get them to treat us complimentary?

Lauren: *Glances at a paper with a list of what's in the refrigerator* Wow... *looks over at Micky* a LOT.

Micky: Well, I'm glad she put up the money. We sure as hell wouldn't be able to afford to get them to treat us so nicely. (Nods at the bottle) Wanna see if that's something we can both have?

Lauren: *Picks up the bottle* Sparkling grape juice. I'd say this is definitely something we can both have.

Micky: Aww, I was hoping for the good stuff. (Thinks) Then again, if we all have the same thing, some of us don't need to be getting toasted on the first day.

Lauren: *Taps an index finger to her nose* You win a prize.

Micky: Personal request to Val from you girls, or is she worried about Pete having a relapse?

Lauren: Request from us.

Micky: (Chuckles) Figures. (He finally sits up) Wanna join me here? This couch is really comfy.

Lauren: Of course. *sits next to him; he wraps an arm around her, and she cuddles into his side*

Micky: (Pulls Lauren close to that and sighs) Hear that, Lauren? That's the sound of quiet. No kids. No construction workers. No neighbors. No anyone. Just you, me, and the beach. (He leans over and kisses her)

*Lauren just sighs contentedly.*

Micky: I wish (kisses go up her neck) that we could just stay like this. As much as I love our kids, I miss...this...

Lauren: *Laughs as his kisses tickle her* Mmm...I do, too...

Micky: We haven't had some good time together since... (kisses go down her neck to her bosom) since I can't remember when...

Lauren: *Grins* Just about nine months ago, silly. *laughs again*

Micky: Was it that long ago? Feels like years! (He pulls back up her neck) God, I want you so much...

Lauren: I doubt the others would be too surprised if we show up a little late.

Micky: Nahh, they know us by now. (Hey lays her down gently on the couch) I love you, Babe.

Lauren: *Gives him a knowing smile* Show me how much you love me.

(Cut to outside of the Tangika House. The others stand around the terrace, looking at watches.)

Mike: Maybe someone ought to knock on Micky and Lauren's door.

Peter: Peace, Michael! They'll be out when they're ready.

Mike: When will that be, doomsday?

Davy: *Grins* When they're done.

Valerie: (Sees the door open) Here they are now!

Mike: What took you guys so long? We were gettin' ready to send a search party.

*Micky and Lauren join them, arms wrapped around each other.*

Micky: *shrugs* Just enjoying each other's company.

Mike: Sorry, Mick. Guess I'm a little on edge. The last time we were here, we arrived to find our host dead and hitmen after us.

Emma: Honey, that's not happening now, and given that Charlie is now under the ground and the hitman is in a very well-guarded prison, I don't think we have much to worry about.

Valerie: Are you two ready to go?

Lauren: We are.

Peter: (Puts his arms around Valerie) Let's go look around, then.

(They stroll through winding paths through more Tiki buildings painted in various pastel shades. They pass a huge pool with a water slide and a diving board, and a smaller one that's intended for children and their families.)

Peter: Wow, look at this! (He leads them into what appears to be an area of ferns and palms sheltering an outdoor cafe. A waterfall overlooks the serene scene.)

Valerie: (Points to the lights twinkling in the teak arbor above them) Oh, isn't this charming?

Emma: It's like a tropical fairyland!

Lauren: Beautiful.

Peter: I love it. I think these plants are all native to the island, too.

Mike: You're really in your element, ain't ya Pete?

Peter: (Nods) This is just wonderful. (Takes a deep sniff) And it smells so good, too!

Valerie: (Nods at a tree dripping with pink flowers) Look at these orchids!

Emma: (Sniffs them) They're so pretty!

Mike: (Sighs) This is real nice, but let's go find somethin' more fun.

Micky: *Nods* Yeah. I agree.

Peter: I saw a playground out by the pool area. There shouldn't be too many kids around at this time of the day and year. That might be fun.

Mike: (Shrugs) As long as no one sees me runnin' around kids stuff with no kids, sure.

Davy: I like the sound of that.

(They follow the path past the cafe area and back over to the kids' pool, which is empty. There is, indeed, a large playground in a sandy area between the pool and one of the tiki houses.)

Peter: Last one on the merry-go-round is a rotten egg!

Emma: Come on, Baby! Give me a push! (She drags him over to the swings)

Mike: Eeeemmmmm...

Valerie: (Turns to Lauren) Want to join me on the benches? We mothers can discuss our little darlings...and yes, I mean the children, too.

Lauren: *grins* Sure.

Micky: Right with you, Pete!

Davy: Wait up mates!

Daphne: Why not? *Shrugs and follows the trio*

("Saturday's Child" begins as the group spills out onto the playground. Peter tells Micky, Davy, and Daphne to get on the merry-go-round, and he'll push!)

(Mike pushes Emma on the swing as hard as he can. Emma swings happily, crying "Wheeee!")

*The sounds of happiness are infectious. They bring around a pair of young men to see what's going on. The duo look at each other, shrugging, then run for the monkey bars. They fight over who goes first until the brunette points at something for the dark-skinned man to look at, which he does. The brunette takes off on the monkey bars, laughing.*

(Valerie and Lauren point at the duo and chuckle, shaking their heads. They're as bad as their boys!)

(Peter pushes the merry-go-round as hard as he can, then jumps on himself!)

*Micky and Davy whoop loudly.*

(Emma and Mike take turns on the slide, Emma points to an unusual-looking slide that seems to be made of rollers instead of plain metal. Brave enough to try it, Mike? He hitches up his pants, climbs the short steps, and slides down...and goes much faster than he anticipated! He goes so fast, he looks dazed when he finally lands on his rump. Emma bursts into giggles as she helps her husband to his feet.)

(The merry-go-round finally stops. Peter hops off first. Anyone want to go again?)

(Valerie and Lauren laugh again as Davy and Micky walk into each other, and then into Daph.)

(Emma pulls Mike onto a see-saw, and they go up and down happily.)

*The pair of young men who'd joined them jog over to the merry-go-round. They'd like to go!*

(Peter nods. Sure! Everyone aboard!)

*Micky and Davy scramble back on, followed shortly by Daphne.*

(Peter pushes the merry-go-round as hard as he can, then jumps on himself...and it seems to go at warp speed! Even Emma and Mike stop see-sawing to gawk.)

(The merry-go-round slows down as the song ends. Peter climbs off first, a little wobbly.)

Peter: Whoa. (Dusts himself off) That was...awesome.

*The darker-skinned young man tumbles off, groaning.*

Brunette Man: Dude, that was totally awesome! *goes over to his friend & they have a whispered exchange*

Micky: *Leans where he is, grinning* Pete, niiiiice job!

*Davy groans, grinning and slaps lightly at Micky's arm.*

Peter: Thanks. Used a little bit of our...strength. (Whispers to Micky) And subdued the light.

Micky: *Whispers* Thought so.

Mike: (Looks at his watch) Ready to move on, guys?

Peter: Can we go to the beach, Valerie?

Emma: We won't be able to swim, but a walk on the beach might be nice.

Lauren: A walk would be great!

Peter: Great! (He grabs Valerie's hand)

Valerie: (Laughs) Oh Peter!

("I'll Be True To You" begins as the eight walk down the path to the beach. Peter is still dragging Valerie, who finally stops to take off her sandals. Peter does the same, then pulls her down the dunes.)

*Lauren and Micky walk along, holding hands and leaning close together.*

(Mike and Emma stick closer to the shore. Mike watches Emma as she inspects shells, rocks, and grasses. He loves the way the breeze ruffles her curls...)

*Davy and Daphne remove their shoes and walk in the water, happily splashing each other.*

(Mike joins Emma down on the dunes. She pulls him gently into her arms, and they kiss deeply.)

(Peter and Valerie chase each other across the sand.)

(Emma and Mike lay on the sand together, kissing and nuzzling. Mike howls at one point.)

*Davy and Daphne are now chasing each other.*

*Micky and Lauren lie in the sand, cuddling.*

(Peter grabs Valerie, and they dance along with the song, laughing.)

(We end the romp with Emma and Mike as they join Micky and Lauren, and the four watch Peter and Valerie dance and Davy and Daphne splash around, all with contented looks on their faces.)
