Enter Matt & Ralph
by Lauren
Lauren walked down the darkened hall with a purposeful stride. She had her sights set in front of her. She paused at the doorway, opened the door, and went inside the room, closing the door after her. She flipped a switch and light filled the room.
The transmogrifier sat unassumingly, quiet. Lauren walked up to it and pushed a few buttons. She entered a rather long set of button codes, then entered another of slightly longer length. She stepped away from the machine and waited.
The door to the room opened and a Micky clone entered. "Babe--!"
"Shh!" Lauren put an index finger to her lips. "Just watch, George."
He shrugged, but did as she asked, folding his arms over his chest, stopping next to her.
The machine hummed, but it had the sound of an accordian to it. The hum stopped and a new clone stepped out.
George’s eyes widened seeing the mass of long, dark brown, curly hair and the lanky frame.
Lauren grinned. "George, meet Matt. Matt, George."
The Weird Al clone raised his head, a wide smile across his face. "Nice to meet you, George!"
The machine began to hum again, this time there was a slight crackle and the hum ended abruptly. The three watched as another clone came tumbling out of the machine. The clone stopped, belly-flopped on the floor, black cape draped over their head, revealing what looked like red longjohns.
"What did you do...?" George muttered, watching the clone flip the cape around.
The newest clone looked up at the others, embarassment clear on his face. He ran a hand through a medium-sized mop of blond curls. "Um... why is everyone staring?"
Lauren walked over and offered a hand to help him up. "Hi, Ralph."
George’s jaw dropped as "Ralph" accepted Lauren’s hand and let her pull him up. Ralph brushed himself off.
"What’s with the jammies?" George asked, Matt nodding, seeming to wonder the same thing.
"It was the green guys--" Ralph began.
Lauren waved him off. "Don’t you two recognize a superhero when you see one?" The embarassment vanished from Ralph’s face and he beamed. Lauren grinned. "Someone has to keep our crew in line, especially with you two now."
George and Matt glanced at each other. "But I just got here," Matt said.
"Doesn’t matter. I know George, here. And you, Matt, I know you are quite capable of causing as much damage as him." Lauren jerked a thumb at the Micky clone.
"And that’s where I come in," Ralph concluded.
"Not only will Ralph keep the peace, but he’ll help maintain sanity around here." Lauren put an arm around the blond. "Now, let’s go see if there’s any wrongs for the Greatest American Hero to right!" The two left the room together, headed down the hall.
George turned to Matt. "I don’t believe that! I’m only married to her in our stories!"
The Weird Al clone shrugged, then grinned. "Believe it or not, George, believe it or not." And he walked away, beginning to whistle a vaguely familiar tune.
George sighed. "Why me?"
