(We open back in the Montgomery House ballroom. By this time, everyone but Peter and Valerie are either on the bandstand or the floor next to it. Peter's moved a table next to the bandstand for him and Valerie. Mike makes a face.)

Mike: Man, can't we do (big yawn) somethin' without bein' captured by them gangsters?

Emma: It's the only thing I could think of!

Mike: I bet I could think of somethin' better.

Emma: How? You're barely awake!

Mike: Watch me. (He holds on to Emma's shoulder) Well, they're all stuck in the treasure pit, an' the gangsters seem to have them again...

(The camera focuses on the golden glint of the tinsel garland surrounding the bandstand, dissolving from it to the glitter of the real gold in the treasure pit. Pruitt still holds a gun on Leaya. LeMarque aims his gun at Peter.)

Queen Leaya: Let me go, you blaggard!

Mike: Yeah! Let her go! It's me you want!

Peter: And me. I'm the one who found this treasure.

Pruitt: At this point, I don't really care about the treasure. I want that secret!

LeMarque: Ok then, Boss. I'll take the gold.

Pruitt: (Points the gun at LeMarque over Leaya's head) Shut up.

Mike: Pruitt, we don't know nuthin' bout no secret.

Pruitt: I think you do. She does, too.

Queen Leaya: Get outta here, mates! This chap's gone crackers!

Pruitt: Where is it? Is it some kind of rock, some well, some magic crystal? Where is the secret of eternal youth?

Mike: (Looks at Peter) Yeah. It's a rock. A real special rock.

Queen Leaya: What?

Peter: (Nods; he knows what Mike's doing) We know where it is. We'll lead you to it...if you let Her Royal Majesty go.

Davy: *nods* That's right.

Emma: Mike, what are you...

Mike: Watch and learn, darlin'. (To Pruitt) You willin' to follow us?

Gangster #1: I wouldn't, boss. Nesmith is a born liar.

Peter: But I'm not. I'm a professor, not a smuggler...and not a very good liar.

Valerie: No, he isn't. I can confirm that.

LeMarque: That's enough for me, Boss. If Mademoiselle Cartwright says it, it must be true.

Pruitt: (Rolls his eyes at the smitten LeMarque) I know I'm going to regret this. (He nods at one of the passageways) Lead on. (Shakes the Queen) But don't any of you get any crazy ideas. Queen Leaya's staying with me until I have that rock in my hand.

Mike: Don't worry, Pruitt. I know exactly where we're goin'. (Leans over Davy as they all make their way to the rock ladder and whispers) Do you know where we're goin'? Where did Micky and Lauren run off to? I know they're setting booby traps.

Davy: *whispers back* They headed out the way we came in so they must be out here somewhere.

Mike: I just hope this works. I know Micky an' Lauren gotta have somethin' up their sleeve. We just have to hold them off until Leaya's chicks can arrive.

(Mike leads them back into the same passageway they came from. They all pull out their flashlights again.)

Mike: Ok, it's around here somewhere...

Pruitt: Where, Nesmith? I grow tired of this wandering around. I want that rock. I could name at least five or six European and Asian governments that would pay top dollar for that secret.

Peter: So that's your game! You're going to turn the secret of eternal life over to one of those warmongering dictators!

Pruitt: (Shrugs) It's a living, boy. I don't care what they do with it, as long as they pay well for it.

Peter: Why you... (He starts for Pruitt, but Mike and Valerie grab hold of his arms)

Mike: Whoa, boy! Steady there. We're almost at the rock.

Peter: (Still fuming) We are? (Winces when Mike nudges him hard; then) Oh yeah, we are. We're almost there.

Pruitt: (He pushes ahead, shoving Queen Leaya) Enough of this! I want that rock, and I want it NOW!

Queen Leaya: Hey, watch where you put that slimy hand, mate!

Mike: Ok Pruitt, the rock is down... (he points downwards at what looks like an area of the floor covered with reeds and tree limbs from outside) there!

Pruitt: I don't see... (Mike hits him in the chin the moment his back is turned. He drops the gun and falls into the floor, which turns out to be a dirt pit. We hear snarls and snapping coming from the pit, and Pruitt screaming. Cut briefly to Pruitt holding onto the wall as crocodiles snap at him.)

LeMarque: Boss! (This time, it's Peter who gets to hit him in the chin. He hits the wall, triggering a wood lever that drops a net onto him and three of the gangsters!)

("Listen to the Band" begins as Mike tackles another gangster, knocking him to the ground and getting his gun. Peter gets his bow and arrow away from a third, and Queen Leaya kicks another in the groin.)

(Valerie wraps her longest gold necklace around one gangster, unwinding him and sending him spinning down the hallway and out of sight.)

(A group of gangsters chase Mike and Peter down the hallway. Peter sends a flurry of arrows at them, and Mike shoots his gun. One of Peter's arrows hits a spot in the wall. Peter and Mike frown and stop running as we hear a distinct rumble over the music. We see the gangsters running furiously in the other direction, and discover why when the camera pans straight ahead...to reveal a boulder running straight towards them! Mike and Peter take off after the gangsters!)

*Davy and Daphne double-team another gangster by emptying golden beads from a chain. The gangster slips on them and lands with a loud thud on the floor.*

(Emma pulls a gangster into a smaller corridor off the main one. We hear a few screams for a moment, then the gangster runs out, now wearing a gold-weave dress, high-heels, and rather silly looking overdone makeup. He runs off screaming. Emma dusts her hands off, sticks her lipstick in her belt six-shooter-style, and goes looking for another victim.)

(Cut back to Mike, Peter, the two gangsters, and the huge rock behind them. Mike grabs Peter and pulls him off to another corridor. The gangsters aren't as lucky. The rock runs into them and keeps going...right through a wall. Peter and Mike return to find a rock-shaped hole in one wall.)

(Cut back to the crocodile pit. LeMarque, who has struggled out of the net, helps Pruitt out. Well, what's left of Pruitt. His nice suit is in tatters, and he has bruises and cuts everywhere.)

(Cut back to Mike and Peter. Mike and Peter have run back to the main room, where the Treasure Pit is. They're now having a gun and arrows shoot-out with several gangsters between the towers. Mike just barely misses one bullet that whizzes by his side. Peter works on distracting or disarming the gangsters.)

*Smoke begins to fill the main room.*

(Mike and Peter manage to run out ahead of the smoke, Mike still shooting at the gangsters. The gangsters can be seen in the smoke, coughing and shooting.)

Mike: (As he runs into Emma and the music ends) Em, where's Micky and Lauren?

Peter: And how can we thank them for the smoke cover?

Valerie: (She, Davy, and Daphne join them) Queen Leaya got out. She went to find her warriors and get more help.

Mike: (Nods) Right. We need to find Micky and Lauren and get outta here, before the smoke clears and Pruitt and LeMarque remember what hit them. I think we've kept enough of the treasure on us to keep us comfortable for a while.

Peter: Maybe they're still in the main room.

Mike: (Nods) The smoke should have cleared out by now. Let's get back there.

*The group re-enters the room with the crocodile pit to find Pruitt and LeMarque looking down into the pit. Lauren and Micky are tied back-to-back on the ledge over the pit.*

Mike: (Screams as he pushes past Peter and Valerie) MICKY!

Emma: (Gasps) Lauren! What have you done to them?

*The pair on the ledge just look on, worried, eying the crocodiles.*

Pruitt: (He points the gun at a rock tied to a rope just above the ledge) We caught your little friends getting ready to spring this last trap on us. Ingenious pair of brats, digging that pit. Lord only knows where they got the crocodiles.

Mike: Pruitt, you bastard, I'm warnin' ya... (He starts towards him, his gun raised. Pruitt shoots at the rope. The bullet just misses the rope)

*Lauren screams. Micky whispers something to her.*

Pruitt: Next time, Nesmith, I won't miss. You come anywhere near these two, I shoot that rope, the rock crashes down on the ledge, and they end up being reptile lunch.

Peter: Why don't you just shoot them?

Pruitt: (Shrugs) Ask your friends. It's their crazy trap.

*Micky's head whips up, looking in Peter's direction.*

Mike: Peter! (He elbows Peter, who suddenly realizes what he says and looks very embarrassed.)

Pruitt: Enough! (He holds his gun up to the rope) The point is, I have one bullet left in this gun, and guess what's going to get it?

(Suddenly, three women jump on Pruitt and LeMarque, tackling them and knocking them to the ground! Pruitt shoots the gun as he goes down. The bullet goes wild, but does hit the rope.)

Mike: Pete, gimme that rope over there!

Emma: (As more warriors fill the corridor) Mike, what are you doing?

Mike: Bein' a hero. (Hands Emma a rope) You get Lauren.

Emma: I...all right. (Grins and swings across, grabbing Lauren on the way over. Mike follows her, grabbing Micky.)

Mike: (As they land) You ok, Mick?

Emma: (When they land) Lauren?

Micky: *groans* Peachy.

Lauren: I'll get back to you on that.

Queen Leaya: (She drags LeMarque over, holding him by his collar) I got this little fellow. Slick little chap, isn't he?

(LeMarque is blathering on a mile a minute in French, his eyes wide.)

Queen Leaya: I can't understand a word he's sayin'. Poor bloke must have snapped.

Emma: (Shakes her head) No, he's speaking French. I can speak a little myself. I think he's saying something to the effect that Pruitt went back to the treasure room to find the secret.

Mike: We'd better go get him.

Queen Leaya: Go at it, old bean! My girls and I have everything under control here. We've already captured and arrested the gunmen at the entrance.

Emma: Right. Let's go get Pruitt!

(Cut to the treasure room. Pruitt makes his way out of the pit just as the eight travelers arrive in the main room. Peter inspects his medallion. Mike puts out his gun, blocking Pruitt in his tracks. Pruitt carries an armful of huge gemstones, rocks, and cut crystals.)

Pruitt: One of these MUST contain the treasure.

Mike: Pruitt, it's over.

Emma: Give it up. There's no secret in the rocks. It's in the whole valley!

Pruitt: I don't believe you, you little trollop. You're just lying because YOU want the secret.

Mike: (Growls) Don't you EVER call her a trollop again. Ever.

Pruitt: (He whips out his gun again) Everyone just stand back. I'm getting out of here, and I'm going to sell my secret. (Smirks) By the way, what happened to that idiot LeMarque?

Valerie: He's where he belongs - in the hands of Queen Leaya and her warriors. (Chuckles) Shame she'll probably want to keep him. He was almost attractive, for a weasel.

Pruitt: Simpering fool. Well, it's his loss. This secret will be mine, all mine!

Peter: (His head whips up as he reads the inscription on the medallion and runs his fingers over one part of the wall) Oh no...so THAT'S what it meant... (He rejoins the others) Pruitt! Stop!

Pruitt: (Growls) Why should I stop now, you foolish twit?

Peter: Pruitt, you can't take the treasure out of the main room! Just the short time we had the treasure in the temple has already caused structural damage! This whole place could fall apart any second!

Pruitt: What do you mean? (As he moves closer, there's a noisy rumbling sound.)

Peter: THAT'S what I mean.

Mike: Micky, I hope that was your stomach.

Micky: No, especially not after almost becoming lunch.

Peter: Pruitt, don't do anything rash.

Pruitt: I've waited my whole life to find something like this, boy. I already have at least four countries in Europe and three in Asia that are interested in this little secret. I'll make enough money to retire to wherever I want, and never have to deal with low-lifes like Nesmith ever again.

Mike: I'll show you a low life! (Emma and Peter grab at his hand too late to stop him from shooting at Pruitt. Pruitt just takes off into the corridors)

Pruitt: Farewell, suckers!

Mike: Why that dirty...double crossing...scheming...

Peter: Michael, what have you done?

Valerie: What did he do?

Emma: (As more rumbling is heard, this time more pronounced) Oh shit. That wasn't good.

Davy: I think we should leave now.

Peter: So do I. This place is going to implode any second! I read it on the wall and on the medallion. If any of the gold or jewels are removed from the main treasure room, the whole building will collapse!

Mike: Shit. (There's more rumbling, followed by crumbling walls and the floor starting to crack under their feet)

Mike: (As the floor begins to buckle and break apart) EVERYONE GET OUTTA HERE!

Emma: LIKE NOW!

(All eight make a run for the exit, diving around crumbling walls and floors splitting open. We see the treasure pit crack open and the treasure slowly fall into the Earth.)

Mike: (Frowns) All that treasure, just down the drain...

Emma: And we'll be down the drain too, if we don't hurry! (She grabs his hand and drags him out)

Valerie: (She leads everyone down the hall) Come on! (They duck around the crocodile pit, where we hear growling, cracking, and screaming. A few jewels, scraps of silk cloth, and a gun is all that's left of Pruitt)

Emma: He must not have been looking where he was going when he ran out and fell in the pit.

Valerie: Such a fitting end.

(More rock crumbles from the ceiling, nearly falling on Micky, Lauren, and Emma.)

Lauren: Watch out!

Emma: Yikes! Let's find the entrance and get outta here!

(The camera follows them as they run through the corridors, holding hands in a chain to make sure they don't lose anyone. Mike is the last one out. Mere seconds after Mike joins the others in the brush across from the temple, the temple falls into itself in a spectacular collapse, sending glittering gold rock and gems scattering in all directions.)

Valerie: (Looks up from on top of Peter) Is everyone ok?

Emma: (Under Mike) I think we are.

*Micky groans. Lauren landed on top of him.*

Lauren: *weary grin* Sorry, Mick.

Daphne: *She and Davy get up and brush themselves off* I think we are, too.

Queen Leaya: (As she and some of her warriors come out of the trees) Good lord, mates. What happened back there? Where's that head man of theirs, Pruitt, I think his name was?

Valerie: "Was" is the operative word. Pruitt tried to escape with the jewels and landed in a pit full of agitated crocodiles. He was likely torn to shreds AND crushed to death.

Queen Leaya: (Winces) Ouch. Not the way I'd choose to go meself.

Emma: Apparently, the treasure couldn't leave the throne room. Pruitt wouldn't listen. We'd already gotten things rumbling by taking some treasure out of the room, and Pruitt leaving with a whole big armful just sealed the deal.

Queen Leaya: (Sighs) So the treasure is now lost again, under that rubble.

Valerie: (Nods) Sadly, yes. It would probably take years to dig for it.

Peter: Pruitt shouldn't have let his greed run away with him. If he'd been willing to let the treasure and that "secret" go, he would still be living.

Mike: Great. So we came all this way for nuthin'? Pruitt and his boys emptied my pockets of jewels when they caught us.

Valerie: Not necessarily.

Peter: (Nods and waves his hands at the city below them) First of all, this whole city is a treasure in itself. I'll finally be able to prove the Lost City of Gold does - or did - exist.

Valerie: Second (she picks up a small chunk of gold in front of her feet) look at how pure and fine this gold is. Do you know how much just this little piece would fetch on the legitimate international market?

Mike: Probably more than eight of the Silver Falcon would cost.

Valerie: (Nods) Exactly.

Lauren: Wow!

Queen Leaya: You're more than welcome to pieces of the rubble. We'll probably use the larger blocks for our own homes and buildings, but you can take some of the smaller bits that you can carry. It'll make up for losing the treasure.

Lauren: Thank you.

Queen Leaya: You're quite welcome, lass. Now (she rubs her hands together) how about a spot of tea? The slaves should be just about ready to serve ours back at the palace. You're all welcome, even the men.

Mike: Gee, thanks, your highness.

Emma: We'd be honored, Your Majesty.

Daphne: Yes, we'd love to.

Queen Leaya: Very well, then. Everyone up and at 'em! (Two sets of the litter bearers run up to them. Queen Leaya gets into one litter with the girls. The boys get into the other.)

(The camera follows the two litters as the bearers make their way down the mountain to the Palace. Cut to a quick shot of the litters arriving and the group getting out of them. We briefly see Mike make a face at the fact that all the litter bearers are shirtless men in loincloths and tight pants.)

(Cut to what looks like an ordinary English tea room...but with African tribal masks and trappings mixed among the Victorian/Edwardian English antiques, including a compass, map, sexton, and several older rifles on a rack.)

Valerie: (As four of the men bring huge trays of tea, cookies, small cakes, and sandwiches in) Thank you, Your Majesty. This is very kind of you.

Queen Leaya: You're welcome. It's the least I can do, after everything all of you did for me. After all, you DID save my life.

Mike: This sure looks good. (He grabs a sandwich)

Emma: Your Majesty, what happened to the remaining gangsters?

*Micky stuffs his face.*

Mike: (Nudges Micky) Man, don't eat the whole plate at once!

Micky: Sorry, but nearly getting killed really makes me hungry.

Queen Leaya: Lad, eat as much as you like. We have plenty more where that came from. (Turns to Emma) My women and I got most of the criminals, including that odd fellow LeMarque, out of the temple about ten minutes before it collapsed. They're now being taken outside of the valley by some of my ladies. Three of them spotted an older man and a large group of military personnel just outside of the mountain, looking like they were preparing for war.

Mike: (Grins) That's my buddy Paul. I knew he'd get help. The military boys will take LeMarque and the other guys in to the nearest town for trial.

Valerie: As much as I hate to say it, we're really going to have to leave soon, your majesty.

Emma: I have to get to work on my newest story! Won't this make my boss take notice!

Mike: I have a few payments to make on my baby.

Valerie: And I have to sell the gold and start thinking of how to use the money to attract new business to my groceries and magazines.

Peter: I need to get back to the University.

Micky: *puts at arm around Lauren* We have a wedding to plan. *Lauren grins, blushing*

Davy: *turns to Daphne* Luv, we'll BOTH decide how to use our share.

Queen Leaya: You may do whatever you wish with the treasure. (Frowns) I have but one request to make of you, however. You must not tell people our exact location. We're vulnerable enough as it is to outsiders. You saw how quickly my best warriors fell to you women and to the criminals.

Peter: (Nods) I understand. We'll do what we can to protect you.

Valerie: It would be a sin to not let your culture flourish here, after it has for centuries.

Queen Leaya: (Sighs) I don't know how much longer we will. We're blessed with longevity, thanks to the minerals and our good crops and this beautiful valley, but outlanders are already encroaching on our land. How much longer will we be able to last here like this, living half like savages, half like so-called "civilization?" (She waves her hand around the room) For every outlander like all of you and sweet old Sir Spencer, who left these things here, there are people like Pruitt and his boys who would want to exploit us and destroy our land, our homes, and our way of life.

Emma: We won't reveal your secret. I was going to write about a culture of African jungle women who lived in a golden city, but I'll change the names, most of the details, and maybe even make the city silver.

Valerie: You're our friend now, Your Majesty. Friends don't exploit friends.

Queen Leaya: We may be isolated, but I do know something of what's going on in the world. There's much war, hatred, and bitterness, and it's not over yet. I'll do what I can to prepare my people for the coming storm, but I'm much older than I look, and my daughters have been fighting amongst themselves for my successor for decades.

Emma: (Nods) That's all anyone can do these days.

Queen Leaya: You may stay here for a few more days, long enough to see our medicine women about your wounds and get everything you need for your journey home settled.

Valerie: Thank you, Your Majesty. We truly appreciate all you've done for us.

(Fade out on the group sipping their tea. Fade in on the African outpost. Queen Leaya, now wearing a simple floral dress, hat, and sandals, stands with Paul. )

Paul: Don't you worry about those gangsters. They're all awaiting trial in South Africa now. The little Frenchman was goin' on and on about a tribe of woman warriors and a fabulous temple filled with gold and jewels. (Frowns) By the way, what happened to the fat guy? He wasn't with the others, and Frenchy was so gone, he had no idea who he was.

Mike: Crocodiles got him.

Paul: You gotta watch out for those guys. They'll eat anything.

Micky: No kidding. They almost got us. *motions between himself and Lauren*

Queen Leaya: Thank you for everything you've done for us.

Emma: You're welcome, Your Majesty.

Mike: (Nods at the Silver Falcon) Want a lift?

Queen Leaya: That's all right, chap. (Grins at Paul) This nice fellow's gonna be takin' me back.

Paul: Pleasure's all mine, ma'am.

Mike: Ok. I wish you guys the best of luck! (He turns to the others) Now, who's ridin' in what vehicle? We're gonna stop back at Shanghai to get some stuff organized and grab what we left there before we head back to LA.

Emma: (Takes Mike's arm) I'm not leaving you.

Micky: I'm going on the Hydrosail.

Valerie: After the ride down the mud slide on the Hydrosail, I don't think I ever want to be on that thing again. I'll take my chances with the plane.

Peter: I want to stay with Valerie. We have a lot of things to discuss.

Davy: And I'm staying with Daphne.

Daphne: We'll be on the Hydrosail, too.

Emma: Ok, everyone. We'll meet back at Shanghai, then.

Mike: Yeah. (Grins) You think that nightclub would let us back in?

Valerie: They probably have wanted posters out on us.

Micky: We might be famous.

Emma: I almost kind of hope we are!

Mike: Or infamous. I like that.

Valerie: (Looks at her watch) We'd better get going.

Mike: Right. All aboard!

Lauren: All aboard the good ship Hydrosail.

*The other three head off with Lauren.*

(Paul and Queen Leaya wave to the two vehicles as the Silver Falcon takes off into the wide, blue African sky, with the Hydrosail boat following along, initially in car mode. It's just changing to boat mode on the river as we fade out on Africa.)

(Fade in on Mrs. Marion's office in the University, where we began the story. Peter and the others enter Mrs. Marion's office, Mike and Micky carrying something large and square under a tarp. Emma, Lauren, and Valerie have items draped on their arms.)

Mrs. Marion: Welcome back, Professor. I see your trip was fruitful. Are these the members of your crew?

Peter: (Smiles as he looks over his shoulder at the others, who smile back) Yeah. They're the members of my crew (beams at Valerie) and my fiancee. (Valerie flashes her new diamond ring)

Mrs. Marion: Congratulations on your engagement. (She clears her throat and shuffles through some papers) So, to come directly to the point, since it's getting late, what did you find in Africa?

Peter: We found evidence that a Lost City may have existed many years ago, maybe even as late as the Victorian period, but the combination of disease from the white men and destruction of their land must of wiped them out. The buildings were in ruins, and there were no people. We were, however, able to retrieve some bits of archeological interest.

(Mike and Micky finally lower the large, square item onto a table. Micky pulls off the tarp to reveal a shiny gold brick. Part of it is missing, but what is left has been polished to a hard shine.)

Micky: Ta-daa!

Mrs. Marion: (Stands, going to admire the brick) Oh my...

Peter: We had it looked at when we returned to LA. It's pure, 24-carat gold, every last bit of it. We were able to retrieve it from a ruined temple.

Valerie: The man who inspected it said he'd never seen such a pure gold brick in his entire life. It's worth more than a million dollars, and I'm donating it to the University.

Mrs. Marion: Well, I...I...

Valerie: Wait, there's more. Ladies, why don't you show what you've found?

*Daphne places jewelry on the table. Lauren places weapons, and gold woven loincloths.*

Emma: (Shows them a handful of jewels) We found these in the ruins of the second largest building. Probably the Queen's palace. The jewels are worth a half-million dollars, the rest a quarter of a million each.

Mrs. Marion: Amazing!

Peter: Show her the masks, Davy.

Davy: Tribal masks. *places the masks on the table*

Mrs. Marion: (Looks up at him) Is this all?

Valerie: We have crates of pottery shards and broken toys we found on the site in a warehouse in Culver City. (Whispers to Lauren) And they're shards because the guys didn't do a good job of packing them and they were almost totally destroyed on the trip back from Shanghai.

*Lauren nods once.*

Peter: Well, Mrs. Marion? Is this good enough to keep my job?

Mrs. Marion: (She sits back) Accounting for your finds in Africa, and your generosity in donating your share of your reward for the capture of the notorious gangsters the PPF Gang to the University, my colleagues and I have decided that we can keep you on just a little bit longer.

Peter: (Thrilled) Really? I can stay?

Mrs. Marion: (Nods) Yes, for now. Just...stay somewhat within the law from now on.

Valerie: Don't worry, Dr. Marion. I'll keep an eye on him.

Mrs. Marion: I'm sure you will, dear. (Smiles) Oh, and one more condition, Professor Thorkleson. I have to be invited to the wedding.

Peter: (Grins) It's a deal!

Mrs. Marion: Good. (She waves her hand) Now, you run along. I have a meeting soon. You'll be starting classes again next week.

Peter: Thank you, Dr. Marion!

Mrs. Marion: Don't get all mushy on me. (But she's grinning) Go, before I toss that gold brick at you!

Peter: Yes, ma'am! (They all head out. Cut to all eight of them walking down the steps from the Archeology Department building.)

Mike: Yeah. I'm thinkin' of goin' legit myself. Gonna talk to my old Great War buddies, maybe get some real pilotin' jobs. I love the sky. That's where my life is, man. (Looks at Emma with a grin) After all, I've gotta make sure my girl has a place to work on her first and greatest novel! It's gonna be a best-seller!

Emma: Taken from real-life, of course! (Grins) With names and dates changed to protect the innocent and guilty.

Mike: Besides (looks at Micky and Lauren), we've got weddin's to plan.

Micky: That's right.

Emma: There's still one thing I want to know.

Valerie: One thing?

Emma: (Turns to Peter) How did you get your part of the map in the first place? You've been cagey about that ever since this whole thing began!

Peter: (Blushes) I guess it can come out in the open, now that it's all over. I went to people who dealt with antiques, the members of the Devil Gang. I didn't realize they were gangsters at first. There were two women and a man. The man was a successful scientist. One of the women was a popular singer, the other was the scientist's wife. I didn't realize they were really gangsters until I was caught exchanging goods with them. We were all hauled off to jail after the cops were tipped off about a shipment of stolen goods in the area. The gang members are still there, as far as I know, but the university bailed me out.

Mike: So you knew about Pruitt and LeMarque from the beginnin'.

Peter: No. I'd never met them. They must have been a rival gang, or subordinates of Miss Saunders and her people.

Valerie: I heard about LeMarque, by the way. Poor fellow was the only gangster released from Africa. He was shipped back to France and is being evaluated by the best people in Paris. (Shakes her head) It's a shame, really. I did rather like him. In fact, I think I might even have loved him. He seemed so charming, so gentlemanly, so...

Emma: So perfect. But nothing is perfect, Valerie.

Valerie: You all knew there was something wrong with him from the beginning, but I wouldn't listen.

Lauren: But you didn't see anything wrong, because he hadn't shown you any wrong-doing. It was just a matter of him showing his true colors.

Mike: Let's face it, folks, we all did some pretty dumb things on that trip. I should have been more careful about who I borrowed money from. Almost got myself and you guys killed.

Emma: But what matters is, in the end...we're here. (Grins) And we're all pretty financially secure for a while.

Daphne: Exactly.

Peter: And we were able to save Queen Leaya and her people and their secret. If anyone finds them, it won't be because any of us let the cat out of the bag.

Mike: Ya know what? Let's go out to dinner and celebrate. (Puts an arm around Emma) I'm gonna be startin' a new shippin' business, an' Em just found a publisher for her novel.

Emma: If the novel's as successful as I'm hoping it will be, I'll be quitting that damn magazine within a few months.

Valerie: I'm working on new publicity for my stores and magazines.

Emma: And we're going to have the biggest weddings ever for you two! (Puts her hand on Lauren and Micky's shoulders)

Micky: HUGE!

Lauren: Aw...

Peter: And we (he takes Valerie's arm) need to talk.

Valerie: (Nods) About so, so many things.

(Everyone walks down the stairs arm-in-arm as the camera focuses on the building behind them and a plane flying through the wide, darkening sky.)

(Fade out on the sunset behind the building. Fade in on a shot of the sunrise as it just begins to peek over the trees behind the ballroom at the Montgomery House. Emma, Valerie, Lauren, and Daphne are the only ones left awake now. The boys are all passed out on the bandstand, the floor, or the table.)

Valerie: "And they lived happily ever after. The end." (Smiles) That came out pretty well!

Lauren: Yes, it did.

Daphne: Too bad the fellas didn't hear the end of it.

Emma: Serves them right for getting sloshed.

Valerie: (She yawns) As much as I'm enjoying this, maybe we'd better follow their lead and head for bed.

Emma: The kids will probably want breakfast in a few hours.

Valerie: What should we do with the men?

Emerald: *pops in* You party without Emerald?

Valerie: Hi, Emerald. Sorry, but it got a little wild.

Emma: It was really noisy and crowded. No place for kids or ghosts.

Valerie: We were just on our way to bed.

Emerald: Tell Emerald about it tomorrow?

Valerie: Of course we will, Emerald.

Emma: I have something you can do, Emerald. Would you like to keep an eye on the men here? (She waves her hand at the passed-out Monkees) I don't think we'll be able to move them. They're all a little, well, bright-eyed.

Emerald: Emerald can do that!

Emma: We'll see you tomorrow, Emerald. You have a nice morning!

Emerald: You, too!

(Emma and Daphne help Valerie to her feet. All four of the women walk out together, talking and laughing.)

*Emerald bounces between the guys, playing with their hair.*

(We fade out on Emerald as she giggles and bounces among the four peacefully sleeping Monkees.)
